Both a happy and haunting sound depending on the time of day, yeah?! ;) An awesome offering for the contest today, anon -- thanx so much for sharing and best of luck at the polls! ;)

It is always a wonder to me that such a drab-looking bird can have such a beautiful song. It just goes to show that one should never judge by appearances. Your poem is a nice nod to this wondrous little bird.

This poem is so very sweet and cheery. It makes me think of the song birds in my yard. (there are many) I like the "pleasing music for the heart" line... that's what birds do! This is refreshing. I love it! -January L.
