This cinquain, Newborn, has the proper 2-4-6-8-2 formatting and follows the specific parts of speech directives as we welcome this handsome fellow into the world.

Thank you, Bill. I actually had to research to find gerunds for that third line. Newborns don't have many actions, and they are all involuntary. I learned something from doing this one and appreciate your review.

Sooooo peaceful when they're asleep... ;) :) A wonderful employment of the Cinquain format here - thanx so much for sharing and best of luck in the contest! ;)

This is very good author. You've taken synonym into a more creative tact in my opinion, and your artwork choice while related, is not even close to the entirety of your intent.

Excellent write and best of luck to you in the voting booth.

This is a lovely post, done well, illustrated wonderfully with the newborn. I will assume it is a new addition to your family and say "congratulations" and best of luck in the contest. Thanks, too, for posting the Cinquain requirements. Marilyn

Loved this Cinquain, and such a delightful topic. It places the exact feelings all of us have at the sight of a newborn. They do give us inspiring dreams and new hope for the world that they have been born into.

First of all, congratulations on the birth of your grandson. He's absolutely beautiful! Your poem so perfectly describes a newborn baby, and does so in excellent Cinquain format. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you, Michele. I've never done a cinquain that I remember, and the newborn baby seemed like the perfect subject matter.

Good job on your first Cinquain but let's be honest, newborn babies are the perfect subject matter for anything!!! 😀

Sorry, just fiver's left-
This is an accurate description of a newborn, the sounds, smells, and sleeps of a new 'little one' are awe inspiring, and indeed, signal "Fresh Hope."
They are so small and helpless, triggering our Care and Protection responses, something that must be from our primal years, otherwise the human race would not have survived.
Good work,
irish

Thank you, Irish. I hate to post personal poems, but I needed to do something for Benjamin, and I tried to make it universal. I'm glad that it spoke to you.

Lovely cinquain. Newborn babies always appeal to our warmest feelings, don't you think? And so true: it is fresh hope for the future. We have to care for them, nurture them, teach them everything to grow into a responsible, good person who will be able to help bring this distorted earth back to a healthy place to live in.
Good poem!

I liked this poem, but it didn't follow the writing prompt instructions. The title was supposed to be the first line, so it had to be two syllables. The 3rd line was also the wrong syllable count.

Thank you, Amanda. I will go back and look at it. I did not think that the title had to be the first line. It's an easy fix. I'll check out the rules.

Just in case, I made the first line the title. I actually like the entry better that way. As to the wrong syllable count, I assume you are referring to "gurgling" which is two. So, I count a correct syllable count. Please let me know if I am missing something.

It's right. Good job. You improved it so it seems to fit the prompts now.

That is such an adorable baby! The poem is so cute and really tells what a baby is all about. This is the first Cinquain that I've come across. I like it very much! Well done. -January L.

Thank you, January. It's such an easy format, I thought that I would try it. A newborn baby seemed the perfect subject matter.
