I am glad I read this episode. It was an eventful episode for me too. Reading yours, I remembered so much! My little sister (eight years younger than I am), slept with a photo of Cliff Richard under her pillow, and I started to become a real fan of the Beatles. Amsterdam became a town completely under the influence of the Flower Power.
Children growing up, school choices and bicycles and so much more!
Your story is, as always, interesting and entertaining.
4 slips:
1. ...tra(u)matized
2.... liked like to go dove hunting?
3.... in the buried in a Dam?
4.... that murder also because (became) a movie.

Thank you so much for the review and chatchiing. I don't know how I keep missing so much. At the time, I had no idea what was going on in other countries. I sure it was more like America than I realized. People are people all over the world. I like the Beatles now more than I did back then. I thought the flower power was a California thing. LOL

My boss's Robert's son,{My boss's son Robert. ?}
and that seemed to be [the]case.
I noticed the two nit's as I read the story, Beth, I hope it helps with the editing.
I had scarlet fever when I was six. I nearly died. My fever was so high some of my hair fell out. Dad and mom put me in an icy bath to save my life. Your statement about good deeds is so true. They often come back to bite you. Well done . Nancy:)

Thank you so much Nancy, I appreciate you catching my errors. That scarlet fever was bad but Carol's cleared up pretty fast. I enjoyed your comments.

There was a lot going on during the 60s with the protests and the rallies. I was born in 65 so I've only heard bits and pieces not realizing how intense it really was. A war here and in Vietnam. My first real recollection was flower power, but I was a child so I really didn't understand what all it stood for. Your story is well-written, very interesting start to finish. It's a shame you got chewed out twice for doing a good deed.

Thank you so much for the review and comments. I enjoyed reading what you had to say. I had forgotten about the flower power and all the flower children. Those were interesting times but in some ways times are worse now.

A lot of info in this piece of bio. Lots of memories are brought up. You have several typos that need to be cleared up but I gave you the five stars for the story told. I know when one types, the auto correct goes wild. A thorough read might help that situation.

Thank you Drew, I'm sure someone will point out any typos that were missed. Some letters got cut off in the transfer. I appreciate your comments.

Wow there is just so much going on in this story. I love the 60s because it really was a pivotal point in history. It truly was a time people needed to fight for equality and rights. I kind of was confused on where you were going with this story though. We're you trying to talk about your maid and racial inequities? Or were you telling me about music? Or were you trying to hint that Dave was gay? I kept trying to settle on a storyline and it just kept getting pulled out from under my feet. You have the ideas and the makings for a awesome story. Actually 3 stories. My suggestion would be to separate these three ideas and form three separate stories. Focus on the maid first. For this story think of three main ideas you want to discuss about this situation. Talk about those three things and tell a story about her. A complete story. I would LOVE to read about her. Did she fall in love? When did she stop working for you? Where did her degree take her? How was your family significant in
her life? Good ideas just contain them!!

Thanks for the review. Apparently this you first time to read my story. Most people understand that all of the chapters will be written in this way. Each paragraph or so is a different little sketch of what is going on in my life. I'm sorry you are giving a C rating because it erases the six stars I just got. In my portfolio are some short stories that go into details of some of these events but this a book and since you haven't been reading it you can't be expected to know everything that is going on. Mary is just one of several maids that worked for me. There will be more about her later.

After reading your work, I now wish I had kept a diary of our married life. I find your writings fascinating. I like "watching" your children grow up too. Keep up the good work.

It is still nice to learn about your past days of living after marriage, how your deceased husband managed with his service never ever had expressed his worries or cause of concern at service; well said, well done; enjoyed the read; thanks for sharing this; keep posting. ALCREATOR

Thank you for the memories, not only yours but it brings back mine. I remember our family doctor making house calls.

I couldn't imagine what it must have been like for her to live there. There was a time when shots rang out and a bullet ricocheted off the side of our car. (That's the neighborhood I teach in. During school hours our cars are parked in locked fences.)

ou had made some new friends at work, and you had a new hunting buddy named Jim. (YOU???)

The sixties had seen John F. Kennedy, our president, killed in November of '64 while in a parade in Dallas. (I was in fourth grade and I remember our Principal coming in to tell us.)

Thank you so much for the review and comment. That is terrible that you teach in a spot like that. I glad you can relate to some of this but that is scary about having to go to a place like that to teach. I guess you're teaching from home right now? I think that Y got knocked off my "You" when I was transferring it. Thanks for catching it.

Great story. I can relate to this very well. My day also but in a different state. I understand the hood and the bullet hole. LOL. Rough times back then. Good one Beth. Glad you have a great memory.

Thank you Ben, I appreciate the review and comments and especially the six stars. The racial problems were probably worse in Mississippi than in most states. I'm kind of glad I don't live there any more.
