Living certainly flows forward ..
when my mother passed away in dec 2006 my father became the centre of my life , we supported each other ..when he passed away in sept2017 that's when my life stopped flowing forward ..
I haven't been living but rather existing until now ... at times I have been angry ...they left me behind, at times I want to reach them.
My best friend Lucia is caring for her elderly ( very sickly too) parents but she asked me if I would like to live together one day once she is "free"..
I have had a few months to think about it and I have embraced the idea ... I'm excited and have starting to make some plans ..I'm looking for a house suitable for both of us .. finally I feel my life is flowing forward again ...
I have started to write also a bucket list for us..
Lucia wants to visit the tulip festival in Holland ..for me it would be a great opportunity to visit my mamma's country ( we often talked about going but never got to do it)
The girl walking at the beach and the words about the sea .....wash away and flow forward ..all work well as metaphors about life ( past and future ) too.
A well thought out entry with a beautiful poetic presentation.

Ciao Franca.. I am delighted to read that you feel you are moving forward again. It takes time to readjust when a parent passes, but I can see you are embracing the thought of living an energized life again. I hope you do get out and visit Holland... and then write about it and let us know what it meant to you!! Thanks for the lovely review.

A nicely constructed metaphor here. I'm with you on the subject of taking advantage of the incoming tide. Memories are all very well, but the main purpose of life is living, not just thinking about it!

I think I usually see a complete thought on each line of a 5-7-5 but I am not sure what the rule of that is. So, yes the syllable count works, so I'll go with that. I do LOVE the last line.
