I like this poem a lot. Your words ring true at every turn. How much better to invest ten dollars in the lottery of life. My son in Melbourne doesn't usually give hard cash but offers a meal or something to drink. Sometimes, just stopping for a chat can make a difference.

Your son was raised right. It's a good thing to do, to help those less fortunate. Many homeless are mentally ill like my son, I can't imagine him on the street. Thank you so much for this amazing review. :)

Your sincere poem about the homeless man is very touching. I know how you feel, and I usually trust my instincts about giving them money or not. One thing for sure if we are generous to people like this, we are blessed in other ways. Very well written, and good rhyming.

Thank you for this great review. It's impossible to help everyone who needs help, but it's good to do what you can. Thanks again.:)

This is an excellent poem and extremely well-written about a very important subject. Homelessness is a heart-breaking social issue...no one should have to live like that. Many of such ones suffer from mental illness and or addictions (which are usually caused by childhood abuse and trauma). I could totally relate to how you felt about this person. Thanks very much for sharing this. I like everything about this poem. Best...NK

Thank you for this amazing review. I have a concern for the homeless and you are right, many have mental illness. My son has schizophrenia and I can't imagine him on the street alone. Thank you again for your thoughtful comments.

We have many homeless people on the corners of our city, especially since Covid-19. Like you, I feel guilty if I pass them by, knowing that God has blessed me with a home and family. Your poem tells a great story, with much emotion. Congrats on winning the contest.

The title is striking - the development of the theme is comprehensive - inviting the reader to ponder this man's plight so prevalent today -Fine detail lends an immediacy to the situation -'I watch'-'I wonder'-'I imagine

Its a very emotional story in this poem that you relate, of a man seeking help but mostly being passed by. Good on you that you went back around to give him some money, it may well have made a big difference to him knowing someone cared.

Thank you for reading my poem. I try to help when I can but it's not enough. There has to be a solution Thanks again.

It makes those of us that have a conscience think about them in a different light instead of the scourge of this earth. What if that were us? We'd want some mercy and grace. Thanks for sharing this inspirational and well written work. Well done!

There is a man who always stands at the entrance to the nearby Wal-Mart parking lot. For the longest time, he simply held up a sign asking for any type of financial help. Not too long ago, I saw him again. This time he had a guitar with him and was playing it. The window of the car was up, so I couldn't hear how good he was. But it was nice to see that he had used the money he got not for drugs or drinks, but to add a simple guitar in order to busk for money. It might not seem like much to most people, but I have the feeling that for him, it was like a promotion.

You can never know what the money goes for but I guess that's not the point. It's the way you feel in your heart that counts. Helping others feels good and it's what God would have us do. Thank you so much for reading.

This is a wonderful entry for the No Restrictions Poetry contest. I am particularly interested in poetry that is easy to read and understand and has something to say like yours. Well done!
