You're running down my six stash again, Tony. This is sly and wry--perfect title--delightful wordplay: triple static! Masterful alliteration and inline rhymes. Cheers. LIZ

A very well-written twenty line poem about the static atmosphere especially on the political stage where everyone is lying to get into power until they are there then show their real agendas and we are on the losing end.

What a literally, "shocking" poem! I admired your social commentary in these rhymed, rhythmic quatrains. I wish I could escape to a "hidden lair". Good luck to all of us! Sighs- Joan

-Good image and presentation, Tony.
-This is an excellent poem with
effective meter, imagery, and rhyme.
-It flows smoothly from verse to verse.
-I like the topic, too.
-These are a few images I like:
"Political half-speak, political spin"
-I also like the references to the
gramophone and "prejudice stuck in a grove."
-A very good concluding verse, too.
-The "hidden lair" sounds like a great idea.
-This is very well done and is
deserving of a win in the contest!
-Good luck!

Give me the shrill call of the coyote any day as opposed to the static of shocking lies from politicians. Wherever your lair is, it has provided you with the peace and quiet that allows you to pen your insightful thoughts. Much enjoyed this creative and insightful piece.

Thanks, June. Glad you enjoyed it. A work of fiction, though I do have a fine lair down here on the farm, away from it all! All the best, Tony

My friend, I think we got a winner in this astutely written poem that is a reflection of our political environment; which is making a mockery of democracies all the time.

Hi Tony, wow, this is quite a social and political comment. I would have liked a bit more specifics about the political climate but the imagery is so clever, I had to award a six to this. I really like the double meaning of static being a metaphor for the stars quo.

Thanks, Pam. Glad you enjoyed it. I appreciate the accolade of your sixth star. I deliberately steered clear of comment on the current political climate here and overseas. The hustings have ever been thus! All the best, Tony

The coming election is well compared to static in the atmosphere! I like the blue as it relates well with electricity. It will prove to be quite interesting as time moves on. Well written!

Thanks, Drew. Glad you enjoyed it. I have little doubt that both parties will do their best to bamboozle the voters for their own ends. That's what elections are all about! All the best, Tony

I enjoyed reading this one, Tony. It is dynamic with its energy and the portrayal of frisson and heat. Using it as symbolism in the election process is clever and appropriate. So well done.

This is a very clever poetic commentary, with all of its twists and turns -- comparing the sparks of electric static to the electrifying fear which politicians may to use in an attempt to sway the public; then the live static of electricity to the sluggish reluctance of our electoral representatives to consider change; and finally, an escape to nature, where elements of the serene (motionless, static) and the shrill (electric static) are preferable to the unpleasantness of civilization.
