This is an interesting look at static from different angles. Politic static can get tiresome so I don't blame you for heading for the mountains. That natural static is so awesome to observe.
An excellent poem, as always.

Thanks, WJ. Glad you enjoyed it. I have little doubt that both parties will do their best to bamboozle the voters for their own ends. All the best, Tony

Tony,

I had to smile as I read this post. I think there are about seven million people in the US alone who feel the same way. Where can we go to just ESCAPE this nonsense and chaos?

I like your verdict. Far away and hidden from every prying eye. *smile*

I enjoyed this very much!

Thanks, Robyn. Glad you enjoyed it. I have little doubt that both parties will do their best to bamboozle the voters for their own ends. It's just the same here in Australia! My refuge is a small farm by the sea. All the best, Tony

Tony,
This poem of aabb quatrians reminds us of all the static of an election. It is often less than half truths uttered. Their are some very slanted rhyms here. Like fear and scare; power and year.
I would prefer to be in your lair with cayotes howling that hearing political speaches.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Joan

You're welcome, Tony. Guess a politician is a politician, anywhere in the world.

Hi Tony, we live in a strange world where we can't trust what anybody is saying. Well, I suppose it's always been that way. Money and power goes hand in hand. It would have been nice to think that we'd come a little further. But, alas, all seems the same as it always been but in new disguises. I like how you used the three meanings of 'static'. All best, Ulla:)))

I loved every aspect of this thought-provoking beautiful write. From its dramatic opening to all the wonderful imagery it holds the reader. I love coyotes and thunderstorms. Great presentation, as well.

Great job with this interesting poem that uses the word "static" in three different ways. I also like your idea of escaping from the craziness of the political world. It is really sad that it's so hard to trust anyone to be honest anymore.

Hello, Tony,

I love your poem about politics. I know I'll be voting for Biden....anyone but Trump.

Great entry for the 20 Line Poem contest but the contest calls for 20 lines, you have more than that.

This is a fine political allegory. Totally apt to compare the partisan polemics with the arcing of static electricity and using the word static in different permutations. That about illustrates the Gordian Knot of disinformation we are embroiled within if you will pardon my mixing of metaphors.

I'm with the poet, off to the hills to hear the cayoats barking at lightning, at least that's still real ... I think.

Enjoyed this very much. :))

Thanks, Gloria. My refuge is a farm by the sea, but if I were in North America, the Rockies would appeal! I hope you're keeping well. I'm dumbfounded by the antics in the White House, as reported overseas. Government by reality TV...

My coveted last six and there is no question this political piece with the air of terror has to be the best I have read in a long time. The meter is perfect, the rhyme is spot on, the content flows as a story.

What an interesting poem. It's very well-written has a nice steady flow. Nice transition from one subject to the next. I agree politicians are like broken records. They go on for hours and say nothing at all, nothing worth listening to anyhow, just half baked ideas and lots of lies. When I was little we used to drag our feet on the carpet and then touch someone, so much fun, lol. I was a mischievous kid. Nicely done, good luck with your contest.
