Lol. I can so relate. For some reason my oldest seems to think she's my favorite of course the others disagree. One day my youngest daughter said I know you just let her think that to make her feel better about herself, but you and I know who your real favorite is. I tell them they're all my favorite then mumble PIA's. They'll say we heard that mom and laugh. My oldest is 35 youngest 27.

A matter of semantics. Reminds me of that riddle--which comes first--the chicken or the egg? Personally, I think 'adore' wins. But Mom is smart. A fun story about sibling rivalry.

Oy, all mother's should have such difficult decisions to make. Myrtle Goldbloom's offspring act like they don't even have a mother!
My sister and I used to flatter my Mom in a similar way. But it was more in the vane of Tommy and Dickie Smothers.

This stuck in my mind and is just one of many one-ups they have been involved in. I no longer know if their insecurity is feigned or genuine. I?m chopped liver no matter what.

Kids!! They never really grow up, do they? And parents never really stop worrying about them either. Our 'boys', both in their 40s, have, since the pandemic hit, become very concerned about us. Not that they weren't before but it's more apparent now. Good luck if the contest hasn't already been.

Gosh, what a complicated network of relationships binds your family together. I would bang the kids' heads together and tell them to pull as one.
I am 61 and my baby brother died aged 52 (I still have my second brother). My parents have never been the same since our loss and really need their remaining children to be united. If we fought, especially if it involved them, they would be devastated. Life is too short. Enjoy your children and help them to enjoy you, while you all can.
