I like the idea that you had these transitions at once and made it through every single one of them except for a goose egg on the son's head. We need encouragement and your husband supported your decisions.

Yes, I enjoyed the new house but we shouldn't have moved in with no railings on the stairs. Someone could have gotten badly hurt.

I enjoyed reading your words, I am a big fan of memoir writing. I like how you are writing as if you are talking to your deceased husband, it makes the story interesting. You went through so much with moving, changing jobs, renters leaving and many other issues. I am sure many can relate to your story.

I think that everyone should write about their life with their deceased spouses if for nothing more that to let their children know about a relationship that lasted in the good and bad times.

Thank you Pat. I appreciate you reading and commenting on this. When am I going to get to read your story? I love your poems but I'd like to read about your life.

If you will go to my profile and in the listing is a book called She Did Right-Now She Does Write. It is my life story. It is about 36 chapters.

Again, this is a wonderful chapter. I felt like I was right there through it all even when Don fell off the stairs. I am very happy you are getting to start completely over.

It's nice to have a new start, but that doesn't keep life from still throwing you come curve balls. Thanks so much for the review and comments.

(... you left the children and I s/b ... you left ... ME) Always drama with the kids! And the house fiascos. Admirable of you to acknowledge the racial dilemma; skillfully presented, as is everything in this gripping piece. So glad you got a better job! Cheers. LIZ

Thank you for the review and the comments. It sounds terrible when I put it in writing, but I've always thought I would do it all again if I had that option. Probably a stupid idea. I don't even want to watch the same movie twice. LOL

Oh so many things in this chapter! How horrible those potential renters put you to so much stress! Then they backed out!
How cute that little Don said he actually "saw stars." Thank the Lord, he was okay. What a scare!
And how courageous of you to investigate the new printing company and wonderful that you can start up with a company that paid you the right kind of salary!

Several suggested it was Karma for not selling to the black people.
Spitfire assured me Don was right because she's gotten hit on the head and she saw stars. Thank so much for the review and comments.

Moving house -and with a young family - a very interesting chapter told with honesty and forthright style - so much happening conveyed as if it is actually happening now- a most enjoyable read

And they really changed, Beth! Wow, all new, and altogether at the same time! So much movement in this chapter! It amazes me that you found time at all to pack and move furniture, clean the house for the new tenants, go to work, and, and... A small miracle! I hope that Don recovered soon from his fall down the stairs!

Thank you so much for the review and comments. About Don, he had quite a few head traumas, but he always recovered. I told one reviewer earlier, he is a doctor now but I had lunch with him today and he's so screwed up politically, in my opinion, that I think all those licks on head must have affected him. LOL

Oh, Beth! Who is not screwed-up at the moment about politics? Many strange things happen. Take it easy, relax.

Hi Beth, yes moving house is always very stressful. and more so with small children. I have to say to turn away tenants because of their colour of their skin is alien to me and something I can't abide to whatever the excuse. I'm sorry, I just don't like it. If they are worthy tenants, you'd just turn them away because they are black? Not much has changed has it? How sad. I have no sympathy about your new tenants turned you down. They were white weren't they? So where does that leave you? All best. Ulla:)))

Thank you so much for the review and comments. I understand how you feel. I felt the same way, but you would have had to live in Mississippi at that time. My husband didn't like the idea either, but our friends in the neighborhood would see their property value drop to half overnight. Since then things have changed. We have both bought from and sold to other races. The first person to read this post was black, and she understood. It wasn't fair to the black person who bought in a while neighborhood either, because they would pay full price, but they could only sell it for half that price.
I hope it isn't like that in Mississippi anymore.

Thanks Beth, for not being angry with me. I understand what you're saying. I can also understand how it must have been at the time.Ulla xx
