Dear Beth, I am glad to see that you are starting a new chapter in your life.
New home, new school, new job, new boss, I am waiting to see what other lifestyle changes happen in the next chapter.

Thank you so much for the review. It's life so you can bet there will be ups and downs just like life is for most people. I feel like I've had a wonderful life, but when I read my own memories, sometimes it seems pretty awful. LOL

I bet what you remember most from this whole episode is. How dead tired and exhausted tired you were from having to move all your furniture and boxes of stuff into that rented truck. No wonder you titled this chapter ?moving woes!?

What a stressful time. How sad to be black, I thought and don't blame you for not answering the phone. Maybe the renters backing out was karmic payback lol.
Your son is right. I remember hitting my head and seeing stars.
Moving yourselves--only for the young or under fifty.
At least you got a great job. Nice that you have a way to blackmail the boss if necessary.

Thanks for the review and comments. I told my husband at the time that we deserved it for turning away those people. Actually, if they had bought, they would have paid full price, but the property would have lost value for them as well. At the time the NAACP was subsidizing some of those purchases to try to integrate the neighborhoods. It was a terrible time and place to be black.

You're obviously better off, I think industrial laws are much better here, there are strict rates across the board here in Australia, also one gets a month's paid annual leave, plus 17% leave loading, my dear was well paid as a teacher. I know teachers in America had to get a summer vacation job, when my daughter lived in NY. Beautifully written Beth, love your biography, blessings, Roy

This was the late sixties and early seventies. Things are better here now. Minimum wage as very low in some states. In New York the cost of living is so high I'm sure even well paid teachers needed a second job. Thanks for the great review.

You bring back many memories of my own as I read your story, Beth. The problems of raising a family and working
seem to be the same. I worked one job where the big boss was always hitting on me and I heard from one of the people who knew him he mentioned, " I was the one that got away. " Moving was always a chore and we did a lot of that. LOL Good job dear. Nancy:)

Thanks for the review and comments. Moving is one of my least favorite things to do. I have a boxes in my garage left over from moves that i haven't looked at for twenty years. I'm sure there is nothing there I need, but I can't bring myself to go though them or trash them without looking.

As always, I enjoyed reading your post. I understand how difficult moving is and with children it's worse. Being military we moved every three years or more often.

we realized how much more needed to be done to have our this house ready for the new occupants. (either 'our' or 'this' not both)

The next week, I was contacted by a new printing company that was forming in Jackson. (The following week)

With a new town, q new house, new job and a new church, things were definitely changing. (a new house)

This is a very interesting true story. I point out a typo only so you can fix it. "wouldn't be no commission." I liked the way "you spoke with your deceased husband. The loved ones are always alive in our hearts.

I can only imagine the pressure you were under, working, trying to take care of a family, young children at that, and being rushed to move. I'm glad your child is alright. Leave it to them to make light of the situation. Your chapter is well-written, very interesting. I look forward to reading more.

Thank you so much for your review and your nice comments. I thought he was all right. He is a doctor now, but I just got through having lunch with him and he's so screwed up politically that I think that lick on the head might have addled his brain. LOL

Wow so cute, thank you for letting me in. I was able to feel the story as was explained. The disappointment from rentee, who you had to respect and moved into an incomplete house to give him room.

The fall of your son.

The hire into a new and we'll paying job.

Am waiting to read the next chapter wondering what happens next
