I love the title, a shiver of sharks, they send more than a shiver down my spine. Anyway, I won't go in the sea after researching jellyfish, so there's no chance a shark will have me for lunch! I don't think I've ever seen as large a group of hammerhead sharks before, as there are in your shivery picture. Not on any of the nature programms I've seen on the tele. You've done really well with this one, Tony, it's an excellent contest entry, well done and good luck! :)) Sandra xx

Thanks for your kind words, Sandra. I'm with you when it comes to letting sharks enjoy their own habitat without me!
I think I've revised this three times since you reviewed it a couple of days ago. LOL

I had to go back and have a read of your new version, it's brilliant! And I love the picture you've put with it. Definitely a winner! LOL. xxx

Tony,
I like the alliterative name of a group of sharks. It is apt because the though of one shark near makes anyone shiver. This seems like a metaphor for people in general and maybe the protestors too.
Good luck in contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Joan

Nicely done! Loved the alliteration in the first line (shiver of sharks) and the limited use of font color adds emphasis to the last word (flesh) without being distracting from the piece as a whole. All in all, a well-worded entry for the 5-7-5 contest. Good luck!

This 5-7-5, A Shiver of Sharks, has the right set up and pictures the worst case scenario if one were to fall off the boat with a bucket of chum.

Thanks for your words of advice, Bill. I shall take care not to fall off a boat in shark-infested waters - chum or no chum!

Wow. This says so much with so few words. I've reread it several times, thinking of the many ways it could be applicable to today's world. Really strong writing, and I wish you the best of luck in the contest.

So nice to see you writing for the contests - and in short forms! You do very well. I like the wittiness of this piece. Misfortune for the fish - and a full tummy for the sharks!

There seems to be lots of collective nouns for a shiver of shark, another suitable noun for the is, most aptly also called a frenzy. Beautifully written Tony, I love this, keep out of the water Now, well done, blessings, Roy

Your contest poem is in good form--correct syllable count per line. The picture is a great accompaniment to you well-chosen words. The alliteration of s works well, too. This could be about sharks in the polluted ocean and its affect on them OR the problems of the world that surround all people in their daily lives from the beginning of time til now. Thanks for sharing and best wishes.
Respectfully, Jan

Hello Tony,
I pray you are well during this global pandemic. I love the artwork/photo of the hammerhead sharks. But, I love all of God's creatures. This is s great 5-7-5 poem for this contest. Great message, the sharks are diving in for their meal, a pound of flesh. Well done. I hope you WIN!! Take care and Happy writing:-)
