Thank you for having the courage to share a "wrong" opinion. I particularly like statement number 4 about justice; makes complete sense to me.
I read about a black conservative who has been called all sorts of hateful names by BLM folks for failing to "fall into line" with their views. Like you, this person believes in individual accountability.

I cannot say I enjoyed this. It was not written for enjoyment. However, I found it to be an extremely well-reasoned, thoughtful piece. I was happy to be taken away from the mould of strictly racial shenanigans, into the realms of all kinds of biased injustice.
It is a fitting piece for the current time of trouble. You should be pleased with it.

Sadly, people have a tendency to dwell on few differences, rather celebrate our many shared similarities. It's time to finally realize our only true differences are those we create. Great job, and thanks for sharing.

I admire your clarity of thought and the well organized presentation of your essay. Your supporting documentation is informative. Thank you for listing references.
I agree with what you say. History shows that no group of people is innocent, but that doesn't mean we should condemn all individuals in those groups. We need to learn from the past and move on to make things better. And take the time to see how much better things are now than they were in decades or centuries past. Labeling and condemning any group because of race, religion, job, etc., diminishes us all. Hopefully, we can see that and start accepting each other as valuable individuals.

Hello lancellot. You are not only right, you are courageous. I commend you for this essay. Principle and character are inconsequential these days. Self loathing has become important. There is nothing I can add to your writing. You have courageously expressed the condition of the post modern society we find ourselves mired in.

We should all embrace who we are, even if we are white. There is nothing wrong with any color of skin. My mom and another family member were going back and forth and this other family member called my mom a racist because she didn't believe with all her views. I think it's an easy thing for people to just throw out there because you are right when you try to defend yourself you look like you're guilty in the racist thing. My mom knew when we walk away but it was mind boggling to read. And I am glad you put in there the rapist and murderers are scared to sleep because of their memories. They should be and I'm glad we're not the only ones to lose sleep. I hope the world can come together at some point. We're all the same inside and want the same things in life. We want to be loved and accepted no matter what. And we all deserve it.

Yes, some eye-opening thoughts, it's too bad that BML movement is now the cool thing to do and any naysayers are the enemy. Everyday I see the statues being torn down and I question what does that really accomplish. What does renaming military bases, or rebranding Aunt Jemma syrup really do. Don't mention that Aunt Jemma was a real person who was one of this countries first black millionaires. Your comment about all peoples at sometime in history have enslaved people and taken lands is so true, slavery didn't start in the 1600s with the colonization of the Americas, it's been around for thousands of years. The indentured servants system that virtual enslaved white people seems to be have forgotten about. A really well written piece that gives food for thought.

Some sort of madness has taken over at the present time.
It is beyond me to know the cause. I have never felt any hatred toward another race, but that comes from my Christian training as a child. Left alone children would never see any difference. I remember my oldest daughter coming out to the car holding hands with a very pretty black boy when she was in Kindergarten. She told me he was her boyfriend. I thought it was cute. This is an interesting essay my friend. Well done. Nancy:)

WOW, you said it! I agree with you 100 percent, destroying pieces of history, doesn't change the times . Let's remember the Roman Empire, black, white, yellows was equally involved in the Gladiator Act. Should we destroy all the monuments in Rome and especially the Coliseum because of it? I think that intelligence of our nations got lost in transition and to be in fashion without looking how stupid you look become the norm. Thank you for sharing and stay strong in our believes, you are not alone.

You make some valid points here and we cannot be held responsible for what happened in the past at a different time and mindset. As you say we must move forward and change the future and forget the past, it cannot be changed and we must live with it. The picture is quite shocking and worrying as is the statement: "white silence is violence". The anger that some feel says more about their unhappiness within themselves than injustice. A poignant write, love Dolly x
