This is excellent. There were many mentions serving as foreshadowing. Even a simile, how rich. Tears were forming and a lump in my throat with your open descriptions of the little family getting ready for the dream journey which turned in a nightmare. I like how you left the reader in suspense as to whether the parents or anyone would survive. Well written. A+

You made me cry! I think your approach to the the 'Big Historical Event' was spot on! Describing a loving little family - one that the reader can attach to and appreciate and one we root for - is a really good way to present this tragedy. It makes it emotionally very engaging as opposed to a more factual description. Also, I so appreciate that you saved the parents at the end! Beautiful story!

Thank you, I'm so glad you liked it. I think most of the entries are stories rather than poems...so I'm a little worried that it won't be recieved well. At the end of the day though, I'm happy with it. Thanks again for reading. :)

Oh, another tragedy on Titanic. The death and devastation from that tragic day in 1912 will reverberate for centuries. Thousands of lives lost - and what made is most poignant, the first class was saved first. Excellent poetic presentation and remarkable words that tear at your soul.

I want to pray for the souls of the departed on board of that ship.

Thank you for sharing.

Wow! What a great poem! You had me hopeful at the beginning, so sad in the middle and happy at the end. I'm so glad you didn't end this on a tragic note. Kudos! Job well done!

Thank you for this nice review. I almost had it end tragically but my daughter insisted on a happy ending, at least for that family. Thanks again for reading. :)

A very well-written poem about a historical event that seems to be good at the time but now, many years later we know that was the biggest human error in all history that took many innocent lives.

Thank you for reading. You are right, it was more human error than anything that caused the sinking...so sad.

Hello my friend

Wow, an epic poem about the Titanic. Your poem grabbed my attention from beginning to end. It's an excellent entry for the Big Historical Event contest. I will look for it in the voting booth.

Your poem sounds like a legend: a family with big dreams crossing the ocean, getting separated and then reunite. I like the rhyme you choose, it carries the story till the end towards an utopia happy ending. I like this stanza , it gives the tone of the entire peom - apa had worked so long and hard,
bought tickets to a brand new life.
They packed up everything they owned,
four daughters and his loving wife.

Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.

This took a lot of work, and I admire it for the same reason I've admired everything written and produced about this event: the story just never, ever, gets stale. Amazing. Your rhyming scheme works here, and the poem tells another story within the story, which is so welcome and helps to freshen it all up again for us. Thank you for writing it, and I wish you great luck!

Really great images painted with your words. I felt sure they would all be lost, then that only the children would make it alive. I'm happy to finish the poem and find that they were all united. NICE! (Check the spelling on "The food more then they'd ever seen) Might change "then" to "than" - Nit-picky I know.

This is an incredibly beautiful poetic story. The photo accompanying this is perfect. Continually bringing up the four daughters is a lovely sentiment. The rhyming is impeccable and the syllable count is excellent which allows this poem to flow effortlessly. Best of luck in the contest. Have a wonderful day.
