Each post is a mysterious adventure in your life. The move to New Orleans will be a change for sure, and I hope all goes well and the children find new friends.

You had me from start to finish--what else is new! As always, adventure interspersed with wry humor--e.g. if you want to stay alive, don't live here! Cheers. LIZ

I'm exhausted just reading this. I think you beat me when it came to a number of moves. Seems you had a solid source of high income and money was never a worry. I enjoyed the story of the Beauty Pageant. Your girls took it in stride.

Thank you so much for the review and the great comments. My husband made okay money. My salary was off and on and we were in debt of some kind all the time.We had too much property. In the end it paid off but not until he retired.

Excellent . I am out of six stars but I love the story of your life. You had a great guy for a husband who showed his love for God, family, and the best is yet to come.
I know the area. I drove Greyhound on charters there and dined at Lake Pontchartrain
Good one Beth.

Thank you for the review and comments. I'm so glad you like this story. New Orleans is whole different ballgame. When I said Lake Pontchartrain I meant the lake. For a while the bridge across it was the longest in the world. I did have a wonderful husband. He definitely loved the Lord. I feel very lucky to have had him so many years. He was nine years older than me.
Beth I save most sixes until the end of the week when everyone else is out.

What a big move! I didn't know Chevron had an office way back then in LA. I worked for Chevron for six years from 1987 to 1992 and we moved from CA to TX after the Chevron-Gulf merger. I loved listening to the musical accents of our contacts in "N'awlins". Hope the kids adapted well - it would be a cultural learning experience. I'm with you about no pageants for the girls at that young age.

My husband started working for Chevon in Jackson, Mississippi in 1958. It might have been called Standard of California then but it was Chevron long before we moved to New Orleans. THere was rumors once that we were going to move to Texas. They eventually merged with Shell.Thank for the review and comments.

We've never had to move in our married life, we have lived in our same home since 1977, so the sera has changed little since those early days. I loved this, some companies do relocate to other areas, I think I would simply have changed jobs. Beautifully written Beth, big adventures coming up. Well done, blessings Roy

Moving around the country, changing jobs, schools, churches, apartments,.. maybe you can settle down now and get some rest in your life. But with a husband now talking of buying his own plane to pass weekends in your country house...well, I'll see what happens in the next chapter.

I enjoyed reading your memoir and look forward to the next chapter. It is interesting about the beauty pageant and how serious some mothers were about it. I also like how you write as if you talking to your late husband, it adds to the feel of your story. I see no need for revisions.
