What an ending! The sheer terror of being trapped and no one hearing you and the fears for your children. At least there was no drama with the kids in this episode. Cheers. LIZ

Thanks Liz, There might have been more drama if my son had been left alone a few more minutes. It could have been tragic. Thankfully we got down without them realizing how close we came.

What a wonderful recounting of your adventures for this day in your life. I can imagine the fear and panic of being locked in thirty-three floors up with three children running free!

Thank you so much for the review and for the great comments. I had a way getting myself into weird situations. The guard shouldn't have let us go up with no one up there to make sure people didn't do stupid things.

This is an interesting format you have chosen, to inform your children of your thoughts and intentions for and with their father. The exploration of The World Trade Center could have been disastrous had your daughter not found you. I am enjoying reading about your new adventures.

Thank you so much for the review and comments. Yes it could have been disastrous. I think there was usually someone at the top to make sure no one did anything stupid. I think the guard below made a mistake allowing us to go up without supervision.

You had to be scared to death, not knowing how to get and if the children would be safe. I know I would be. We vacationed in New Orleans last summer, it was cut short because of a major tropical storm that flooded parts of the city. LOL Thank you for sharing.

Thank you Barbara for the review and comments. Yes I was pretty frightened. I don't know what would have happened if Carol hadn't opened the door.

I can see this happening. Good for Carol. So glad you were able to get out. The incident made me feel sorry for you and I could see the tears on your face.
Wow!
Good one Beth.
Pete Fountain was playing in the quarters about that time. I think.

Thank you so much for the review and comments. Yes Pete was there and so was Al Hirt and Louie Armstrong. They all marched in Mardi Gras prarades.

This was another great read as your stuff always is. Reminded me of the "Hotel" Movie based on the old St Gregory Hotel in that city - real or imaginary...the book was by Arthur Haley - an Australian actor played a major role. No spags.

Thank you so much for the review and great comments. I remember the "Hotel" book by Arthur Haley, I loved all his books but the only movie I saw was "Airport".

Well Hotel with Rod Taylor (Australian) and quite a few well known actors are in the movie the DVD is a bit old now but still around maybe even re-released? You will recognize some of the places even though a movie set I am guessing.https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061786/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_45

Oh, Beth, how could you go through that door without letting the children know where you went? This could have ended so much more tragic! Thank God, you had at least your Carol who was looking for you and had the good sense of opening the door to look there.
New Orleans is (I think) a big city and it takes adjusting when you come from a much smaller place. I hope you'll tell more in other chapters.

Thank you for the review and comments. It was stupid but it never occurred to me that the door would lock. It could have been tragic. New Orleans is a very big city and different from anywhere I'd ever been before.

Thank you so much for the review and comments. I lost my kids a few times too. I lost one at the zoo and two at Maudi Gras and one in a department store to name a few times. The Lord had to be looking out for me.

Oh, how scary!!! You described the incident very well as I felt panicky thinking of you locked in that stairwell. Who makes doors like that? So good that Carol found you!!! And good for Christi protecting you from being drowned by that boy. That happened to me, too as a kid. A bigger kid wanted me to give her a piggyback ride in the pool.

Thank you for the review and comments. Yes, that was scary. I had no idea the door would lock behind me. The pool thing was scary too. I still don't feel totally confident in water over my head, although I float unless I panic.
