I like your message of New Orleans and its history
the form and structure of your stories are great
the POV is that the historical side of New Orleans was called 'fat city'. I think this is perhaps the Mardi Gras's name today?
the voice/tone was adventurous-factual
the grammar is excellent
the conclusion was that you had an adventure ahead of you.

Hi Beth, this is a great continuation. I've always been fascinated by New Orleans but, of course I've never lived there as you have. I can understand you fascination with it.
Our children adjusted easily and took it all in stride. = Our children ... all in their stride.
I'm looking forward to what's next. Ulla:)))

Thank you for your review and nice comments. New Orleans is an interesting place, but I've not been back since Hurricane Katrina, so I don't know if is has changed.

This was, once again, a well done and very, thankfully, descriptive chapter. I have a long time online friend on Facebook I should introduce you to, named Dorothy, in her 80's I think, who lived near Lake Charles in La for years before their home got ravaged by Rita or Katrina. No spags.

Thank you so much for the review and the excellent comments. I think you already had me put Dorothy on my facebook page. I don't get on facebook often so don't really get to know people that way.

Had a feeling might have connected you and Dorothy up. No worries. Don't see her as much now either seeing our mutual friend Bevi the former First Grade teacher from Mass. has now gone to be with the Lord.

Wow! Loved your coverage of this whole new world you experienced with the kids. You really did go to another country - it seems with all the different types of speech, ethnicities and foods! I'm impressed with how open you were (are still, I'm sure!) to learning about new cultures! Virtual six!

A wonderful travelogue of Louisiana. I loved learning about the culture including the pronunciation of certain words. Each section of our country has its own dialect and expressions which makes travel interesting.
What a shock (no pun intended) to see a minister electrocuted.

Thank you so much for the review and comments. I'm glad I only heard about the minister being electrocuted. I think that would have traumatizing to witness.

Beth, this was a very interesting read. I had never known anyone who actually lived in New Orleans, so your story is educational.
I only found two corrections you could make where a period was out of place to the quote mark [zinks.' groceries."] if those suggestions are wrong, I apologize, English was not my best subject.
Thanks for the education and keep writing and reading.
Dick

Dear Beth, thank you for taking a whole chapter in your story to tell us All, about your impressions of the people and cultures that existed in New Orleans in the 70s . Knowing how traditions and cultures are resistant to change, I bet they were still the same when My husband and I visited in the 90s ( We were tourists so a whole different 'hospitality culture' was invented for us I am sure.

Thank you Suzanna, I appreciate the review and the nice comments. I had visited there before but until I started living there I didn't get a feel for the difference this was from what I was used to.

a visit is really very different from trying to find the most convenient grocery store
