That is a horrible sight, author. I feel the flames licking my computer screen and that firefighter crying. There appears to be nothing to do but let the fire burn its way out. This is a good entry for the 5-7-5 Fire contest. Thank you for sharing. it still gives me the willes.

Hello, anonymous,

Good syllable count and connection between lines that facilitates flow. The presentation is nice. Good luck in the contest.

I like the fire theme about forest fires.

Fires are deadly and my heart goes out to people and things, along with all the poor animals. Your poem reflects my own feelings, has universal appeal, and your picture compliments your words. The reader couldn't ask for more. Good luck in the contest.

Fire is so destructive. Sometimes that is all we can do--stop, watch, and grieve. This is a excellent entry for the 5-7-5 writing prompt. Best of luck in the contest!

What a sad poem, I hope
Nothing really terrible happened to inspire it. The picture you chose matches the poem very well. Thanks for sharing this and have yourself a really great day

Yes and what a lot of fire the earth has experienced in recent times with great damage ensuing - a sense of disbelief and a sense of loss pervade this short poem - well done

You followed the rules and penned an excellent poem about fire. Your illustration, of course, pairs perfectly and sets the stage for your words. This is nicely done. Good luck in the contest.

This is outstanding. The photo just brought it all home. The words are so full of both sadness and hope. The Photo is as beautiful as I have seen on this site, what a story it tells! And your short poem, gives voice to the photo. Wonderful job. Good luck on the contest. Be confident! It's a winner in my book.

This feeling one can understand, but we must also remember that some fires are also a part of Nature's constant cycle and renewal. It is hard for people to understand, but we must remember Nature has a plan.

Now, the stuff we burn down, is a different thing.

Good entry.

I like your words " I grieved for what had been before." You show the loss and destruction caused by a forest fire. Excellent use of the 5-7-5 form that creates feelings and emotions.
