This is what I yearn for also! These halcyon days, as you have described them are remembered so fondly. I mourn that younger generations have no idea about most of these, and haven't developed the thirst for them. I would take comfort in the manners and niceties that are just lost these days. Alas. Good job. Good luck with the contest.

This will immediately draw many readers in : "TV's were snowy and just black and white But families watched them together, at night" This invites the reader in to smileas they remember those exciting moments when they got a tv. I remember we hadf a "silly" plastic sheet to putnon the screen. The top was blue, the middle pink and the bottom was green. Now those colors worked about 1/10 of the time. This was fun.

Got my vote as much for the memorable content than for the flow of the poem. It's a shame some of those customs aren't seen today. Good luck in the contest.

This poem brings back many memories. The author's words stated so
much of those former years. The poem conveys trust, family life, good manner, and more. The poem flows and connects well. The artwork
made the reader smile Hope you had a great day!

Nettie Nostalgia

Hello my friend

I really like your poem entry for the

Personification of an Emotion poem writing prompt contest. You nailed down nostalgia. I wasn't alive in the fifties but I watched movies and TV series that gives me an idea of the wholesome family values and patriotism. Well done.

Thank you ma'am. It was truly a happy, innocent time - a wonderful growing-up time. God and Country.

A very well-written poem about nostalgia of our childhood days where everythings was based on respect and honor. When we look at today we can see the decay in values that were once high on the charts has little value today.

I agree because I lived in these happier times. My parents were divorced, but I still had a sense of family and country. It is slipping away from us very quickly. I'm doing all that I can to hold onto the virtues of God, faith, family and country. They are worth holding.
Sending you my best today as always, and best wishes for the contest.

A handful of people can cause trouble and the general population then has doubt, but really nothing much has changes, you still have a firm foundation, the anarchists will eventually quieten down. Your poem is well written and I adored the sentiments here, love Dolly x

Happy Days back then, much happier days. You've captured the feeling of regret for the current social atmosphere when compared with aspects of life back then in America. This could well be in any country (I share a similar feeling of nostalgia for the days of my Australian youth)
Nice one, Nettie Nostalgia..
