Awesome lesson! after reading your post, I can now confidently put away my calculator and my toes and just rely on my fingers, all seven of them. I barely get by with 1-6-1 contests, but I think I can now try the 5-7-5 ones. Thank you, my friend! Keeping writing funny stuff and good luck on this contest!

I appreciate your sarcastic wit - veiled as tongue-in-cheek when it actually is a pet peeve for those who are accurate the first time when entering work in a prompt. The main problem is people's inability to know what a syllable actually is, even though the internet makes it easy to find out. I got told off recently for counting "ambition" as 3 syllables. She thought it should have 4, thinking that a syllable had to have a vowel in each one. I usually go by how it is pronounced in sounds, then check if i'm unsure (due to regional variants).
