What a beautiful poem that describes such a beautiful and heartfelt story! I didn't read this poem until after the contest was over and didn't vote, but congratulations on a well-deserved win!

    Ciao Manh,

I? m glad my wee poem touched your heart and that you thought it worthy of a six star vote!

    Thank you( smile)

I have helped bottle feed many stray kittens while suitable owners were found.

... it?s a great feeling to be able to give these poor critters a second chance.

    Keep safe

    Ciao!

Very interesting piece. I have always felt sorry for "strays". We had a feral cat in our neighborhood. We named him Blacky, because he was. We took him into the backroom, so he wouldn't freeze and he lived in that room intermittently, but finally nosed into the house to become friends with our other 2 cats. Consequently we got fleas, had to have the exterminator come to remove them. Well that turned out to be a big mistake, because our DeDe died. No more in the house for Blackie. That was 3 years ago, and Blacky is till thriving. Go figure.

This is a very precious poem you have penned about the life of a stray. I can so relate to this as my husband and I take care of the stray cats that land in our yard or garden, plus our six cats we rescued. Best wishes in the contest. May God bless your friend for doing this. love, Teri

    Ciao Teri7 ,

All my cats were strays except one ..our second cat we found in the rubbish tip ( sigh ) I wrote a poem about him

Miracle by tempeste ( in case you want to check it out)

For many years now I have helped my friend .. there are so many stray kittens
so I take some each year and bottle feed while my friend looks for suitable homes for them.

My biggest challenge was a kitten of 6/7 months .. a tiny tiger ..it had to be tamed and sterilised before she could be handed over to a family ..

..took me a month to win her trust ..she stayed with me for 5 months

I don?t like keeping them so long cause you get attached to them and so it?s a bittersweet goodbye ( but I already had 5 then plus my father to take care of...so deep down I knew I had to let her go).

I checked out your portfolio and read that you are in quarantine..5 days now .. I hope your symptoms are manageable .. seeing tests are re-tested to be sure , I think the doctor should have warned you to stay at home until second test results arrived.

Thank you for the six star vote ..in all honesty I?m more excited that someone could relate to my poem.

I hope to read soon that you have recovered , I will pray for you ..

    Ciao!!

It certainly takes all kinds of folks and of critters to make our world what it is: isn't it a joy to know that there are those that dedicate themselves to helping others - they are what make the place a bit more livable sometimes, yeah? A wonderful contest offering that shows a beautiful side of humanity -- thanx for sharing and best of luck! ;)

Yes it comforts me to know there are people that dedicate their lives (or part )in saving/ aiding strays.

I don t understand why so many owners don t bother to sterilise their pets to avoid unwanted pregnancies ..

and then when the fly is in the soup they just dispose of the problem in the most despicable ways.

Luckily there are still people with caring hearts .. but that number is dwindling by the day ..

sadly , in the beginning of this pandemic many pet owners dumped their pets fearing they could catch covid from them.

Well written. I especially love the first stanza. It pulls at the hearts strings of humanity and allows people to see that they aren't just dirty, disease carrying creatures but living things which have been placed in unfortunate circumstances and need love and care. Well done!

Owners that don?t bother to sterilise their pets are the most incline to bump/discard the off spring ...the question strays .. is mankind?s doing ..

I think there should be more severe consequences for people caught
mistreating , staving, discarding unwanted pets, kitties or puppies.

They should do time in jail .. being fined is not enough.

    Thank you for sharing ...

    Keep safe!
