It makes me sad to see this. McEnany is smart as a whip, an excellent spokesperson, and really knows her stuff. I only hope this job doesn't ruin her entire career because she truly is doing a laudable job in an impossible situation.

Excellent response to the prompt. Darn straight being a press secretary is a really tough job.

Wishing you much luck in the booth.

Gloria

You really summarize McEnany?s attributes well. I, too, wonder if she will ruin her career by taking this thankless job. Many thanks for your kind praise of my poem, Gloria.

You've captured the difficulty of this position so well. If we can't laugh about the situation, we'd be crying. This current president has had more press secretaries than his predecessor had in two terms.
Great ballad form and humorously done. Best wishes in the contest!

You make an excellent point, lyenochka, about how many press secretaries Trump has already gone through. Many thanks for your kind praise of my poem.

I have to say this is very well crafted and surprisingly fair minded. That is something rare in these divided times. I like even flow and realism of the press secretary's job, in a nonjudgmental way.

Well done.

You did a good job with the prompt, Mystery Writer. I enjoyed reading your entry. Your words flow smoothly with good rhymes, good imagery, and a good account of the life of the PS. Thanks for sharing and best wishes.

This is a very skillfully-written, vividly descriptive, informative poem. I learned a great deal about her from your poem. She--and other top Presidential spokespersons--have a TOUGH job. I feel sorry for them!

Many thanks for sharing my poem, Janice, and your very kind praise. I truly would not wish her job IN THIS ADMINISTRATION on anyone. Trump is not an easy man to work for as everyone knows.

Well said. She does have a monumental job and does it very well. I've observed several press secretaries and the previous one and now Kayleigh have a tough job with such an adversarial press to contend with. Thanks for posting.

This is a very interesting poem.
I think a lot of people tend to overlook people-such as the Press Secretary. Jobs that may not seem important, but are. Your poem is informative, quick and right to the point(s). I think it's an excellent contest entry for 'The Life of a...' I also had a little chuckle reading your notes. My brother is a big Designated Survivor fan. :)
Good luck in the contest!

Another crazy blond, author. Trying to be sound sincere and backing everything the pres says is swimming in the ocean in the time of a hurricane. I have to admit the Press Secretary position is a starting job for a person to get into politics. A place where one can learn to lie with the best of them. :) This is a good entry for The Life of a... contest.

An interesting subject--maybe even daring--for this contest. The job of the PS to a President is to be a human lightning rod--particularly this President. You do a good job of reporting the facts, and leaving out the opinion. Sooner or later, she'll write a book. Maybe then we'll know what she really thinks.

Good job tackling a tough topic.

Best of luck.

Peace, Lee

I really like your analogy, Lee, that she is a human lightning rod for the President. And undoubtedly she will write a book (especially if Trump is defeated). Many thanks for sharing my poem.
