Well, Sally, two is always better than one. Even when it is said that one plus one makes three. :) That is the angel with the two. Good story Sally. Twins have always felt what the other feels. They came into life together, they may not be identical, but they shared everything mama had to give. Thank you for sharing. Take care and bless you and your family.

Hey Sal.

The story demonstrates certainly the relationship between twins. My wife is a twin and I have observed that for nearly 50 years how they interact with each other.

A very interesting part of the story to me was the response of the bully. He just wandered off without a word. That is how all bullies should be.

It seemed to me that the Parson did not see the Angel as he carried the boy into town. It's a well told story and I will add that, "His Eye Is On the Sparrow" is one of my favorite songs.

Your pal. Z

Thank you, dear Z. This is one of my favorite songs as well and it would ran around in my head while I was writing this, so I knew it was the perfect song. So glad you liked it all.

Your tale has a feeling of myth and legend, a spiritual connection of angelic appearance told in a very appealing manner. It evokes an Irish childhood and lifestyle clearly and engagingly, with underlying themes of twin connection, destiny choices, and assistance from beyond the veil.

Some comments:

I'd prefer if a different word was used in the second instance of "scrapes" in the following sentence to avoid close proximity repetition. Maybe "dicing with death"?
"Never did they enter into the parsonage without scraped knees, tales of scrapes with death,..."

I love the spooky feeling of this passage:
"Every tree was named a spectre, with bent branches that looked like arms and legs, and Scottish Pines that seemed to have eyes."

"The cracking sound said it didn't matter." I don't understand what this means. What doesn't matter?

"His Eye is on the Sparrow" was the perfect choice to sing!

"Cal limping along with Tomas, leaning on his arm" - I doubt that with a freshly broken leg he would be able to even limp by putting pressure on it.

A word missing: "The O'Fallons would always recall (the) day they sighted and interacted..."

A confident boy may do a lot of risky things, at least some of which could have bad or even disastrous consequences, but that is his path to adulthood as a self-confident man. In cases such as this one, it helps to have an earth angel at hand to keep a mishap from becoming more than temporarily painful.

You told this story well with your usual useful detail of plausible events and relevant dialog, so the reader feels immersed in the action. The story is realistic enough to be less surprising that it actually is based on your own grandsons' comparable adventure decades ago, and I can see how such an event might influence their later lives.

Superb, aptly illustrated, and well accompanied by the chosen music videos.

Thank you, Mike, for your kind and thoughtful review. My twin grandsons just turned twelve and this happened to my red-headed Caleb two summers ago. Twins have such a special bond, and angels around my two made for another 'Angel of Ireland' story.

Thanks again for the wonderful review and starshine. Sending you my best today as always,
    Sally :))

You are most welcome, Sal. Though there never have been any twins in my family at large, I always have had such a bond with my five-years-younger sister; and it has strengthened over time, despite our being over a thousand miles apart for the last sixteen years. She and I have been each other's angel when needed. Consequently, I can relate to aspects of this story better than otherwise might have been so. --Mike

I was a twin but she didn't make it full term. I always feel like part of me is missing. Twins or even a close sibling share a common bond of closeness. :)

Ah, that explains a lot. Twins usually occur in alternate generations. Yes, that is how things are between my sister and me. -- Mike

Twins are amazingly more than one. They are so intertwined with their partner making them two with one persona. Your description at the beginning is so articulate and leads into a very lovely and well-written story. The magic doctor being in the right place at the right time kept the story from being tragic. Well done Sally.

This piece--based on true events--moved me to tears and smiles. Your story is well-plotted, with specific, vivid details, and conveys a sweet message about the power of God and His angels.

Such an amazing story. It is told so wonderfully that it reads more like a fantasy rather than non-fiction. I loved it's telling, as well as the photo and videos.

This was a nice story, and I was able to identify with it because my best friend actually has twin girls :) Really great work here and I liked the musical inclusion. Thanks for sharing. Later daze.
