Your story is interesting and informative and fun. Tripple crown. So creative. With your background in history, I bet this type of writing contest is a field day for you! Good going. The result speaks for itself. I enjoyed it fully. This could be so easily expanded full length... Good wishes.

Hi, Beverly. Indeed writing for contests like this is a ?field day? for me because I taught history and often used the stories I wrote (Many like this one) to illustrate what I was teaching that day. I loved having a captive audience. Many thanks for the triple crown rating. Rod

I can see why this piece won first prize. I admire the way you blend narration and dialogue. That's something I am working on.

I taught writing and literature in a community college for 28 years, and I suspect that shared experience plays a role in how I relate to your story.

Oh, and the sense of time and place is established skillfully.

I will be looking for more of your writings. Jeff Watkins

Thank you so much, Jeff, for your wonderful review of my story and that galaxy of stars. We have similar backgrounds, both having taught lit and writing in a community college. I posted another story like this one about a week ago titled ?I Cracked the Liberty Bell.? I think you would enjoy it. Rod

A very fine time to be a part of-

Your conversations seem well planned and authentic to what would have happened between Thomas and James.

I, too, am a lover of studying President Jefferson- I would have been fantastic to have known him well enough for him to have wanted me to call him Thomas!!

Enjoyed.

Best of luck in the Quantum Leap Into Time writing contest.

Thank you very much for sharing my time-travel story. Thomas Jefferson is a personal hero of mine. It was fun to write this story.

I think if I leaped in during the Louisiana Purchase I'd want to be Lewis or Clark rather than a minister to France. Good luck in the contest. Stay safe and stay healthy.

Thank you, Earl, for sharing my story. I have written a story about Lewis & Clark, but have never posted it because it has 10,000 words.

Hello, Anonymous,

Interesting entry for the Quantum Leap Into Time writing prompt contest. So I am guessing you took a quantum leap into James Monroe... wow, that was quite a deal. You know, I am from Spain :) You kept the story believable, for a flash fiction. Good job. Good luck in the contest, my friend.

A very well-written story about taking a quantum leap into time to be able to be there when historic events take place. If it could be done for real it will be great to see historical figures we admire today.

What a great contest entry, Mystery Writer. I loved reading it. I was engaged from start to finish as I read and could 'see' everything unfold. You did a super job. I love the historical reference. Everything fits into place perfectly. The image is a great choice.
Best wishes.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

This is a very interesting story. I enjoyed the historical settings and information that you presented. Your descriptions made me feel like I was going back in time, watching and listening to these conversations. You explained well how these events unfolded and why they were important to the U.S. Awesome job!

I apologize if I sent your review through a second time. LOL! I didn't see a rating on your story and I thought I might've forgotten to include it. So, I went back and resent it. LOL!

Nice jumping salt through history Covid, 9/11, July 4, 1776, 1803 and then we get the rial deal: "Robert and me to sit with him at a long table. The minister handed Livingston a formal document which we both quickly perused.

Livingston gaped. I smiled.

"Napoleon's offering us all of Louisiana for peanuts," I said.

"Fifteen million dollars is not . . . peanuts," Livingston whined.

"Don't quibble, Robert. Sign it!" Thank you for sharing anf good luck with the contest.
