Sometimes we don't see some of the gifts we were given till years later. Creating a tradition like that was her gift to you all. Losing a loved one around that time of the year can be hard. I hope he finds the joy again.

An interesting and beautiful story of Christmas through your life time. So sorry that your mom died so early in life but you sound as though her present to you was learning the joy of Christmas! Christmas has always been special to me too. Good luck with the contest!

This is really good work. I guess mom could have been the opposite way. Since she was deprived of many things, had to live in an orphanage and work as a maid. She could have been a Scrooge. I hate that she had to die and the Christmas spirit in the house died with her for a while. I enjoyed reading this inspirational and well written work. Well done!
