This an outstanding example of a seasonal haiku. The sight of the forest carpeted in rust leaves and the sound of the hooves crunching them - a feast for the senses. I love the accompanying artwork. Well done!

I learned a new word today, susurrus. Your poem paints a vivid picture of nature. Your use of words appeals to the senses, crunching of leaves and the beautiful doe. The reader feels like she is out in nature.

A very well-written 5-7-5 poem about the amber and rust leaves that are crunchy when step on by doe's cloven hooves and the sound travel far in the silent wood.

Your haiku is excellent--descriptive and appealing. In your few syllables, you have placed the reader in a fall setting in nature--complete with
flora and fauna.

"creek's soft susurrus" - lines don't get any better, sound-wise, than that!
And, now that you've taught me about the kireji (thanks), I can more fully appreciate, not only the sound of that line, but its function within the haiku as a whole - contrasting with, and thereby highlighting, the softness of the creek's sound.

I always learn something about the haiku form when I read you.

Well done Gypsy. This is an excellent post my friend, I like the sussurusic sound of a stream or running water, comibed with the rustling whisper of leaves. Well done, great haiku, blessings Roy
