Wow, this is a perfect example of what mothers - women go through sometimes and the fact that she just got there is ridiculous! I knew when he looked at her hands, there was going to be trouble. I love how Gabriel always steps in, but it's so sad because Katherine is so used to doing things herself. I have a tendency to that sometimes. :) And I'm glad you had a wonderful time with your son, and I think Game of Love is a great title!!

Hi, Barbara. I thoroughly enjoyed getting back into your writing. I had forgotten, or didn't know, that you were from Texas. Being part of the educational system and being from Texas, this should be right down your alley. I like the slow development of your characters. This promises to be an excellent story.

I am thrilled you read my post. Please come around more often. I do see you articles in my email and do read them, but working 12-13 hours days and that's all I get done. My writing was finished last spring while quarantined.

Now that I paid my $69 for the year, I'll be here more often. I do so enjoy your writing.

Mr. Frost sounds a little disturbing to me. Goodness, why would another teacher check out if someone has a band on their finger. Katherine only started five days ago and she's already been hassled.

Katherine released a deep breath and then faced Gabriel. "I've never been to a faculty meeting. Are there assigned seats?" (I have been to MANY..... there is a hierarchy- completely unspoken- at some schools. God help the newbie that intrudes!) 'a tall slender man, wearing a button down shirt and a bow-tie stood. "Coach, what are you doing in the academic section?" (Yep!)

"Those interested staff members, a word of warning, our resident playboy, Coach Hudson, has already laid claim. You'll have to wait your turn. It's yet to be determined if she can teach math or handle discipline." He stepped away from the podium. (Yes, he is a lovely co-teacher.)

"My suggestion: if you don't know what you're talking about keep your mouth shut." (Good for her!) (You had to have been a teacher or married to one. There are MANY crocodiles in this profession of claiming to want to 'help'.)

I am a teacher, and have a son who is a high school math teacher. I teach first grade and this is my last year. I'm retiring. Thank you.

Retirment is awesome! I loved every minute of teaching. The kids were great. All 37 years worth (of middle school) I am loving every minute of retirement.

So...if he wasn't going to say "damsel in distress" what WAS he going to say? Lol. Good display of Katherine's worries. First day on the job, or first public meeting, can be overwhelming.

Barbara,
A slap in the face....a kick in the pants......a big loud raspberry.....all of these actions would be fine with me......Oh hey. I just realized that this is a story- got caught up in it for a few moments.
That's why I liked it so much. I must admit there have been moments in my 35 years career that almost slaps were on the horizon- but..... cooler heads prevailed. And I simply worked my but off on and off the field...the result. I stayed and had a great career- my mentor/tormentor did not.
Great chapter. Write the next one please!
Well done.

-Good artwork and story, Barbara.
-This was quite a faculty meeting, and Mr. Frost
sounds like he has quite a few issues, especially
where women are concerned.
-Kudos to Katherine for speaking up,
and not allowing the remarks to go unnoticed.
-Gabriel has an appropriate name, because
he seems to be in the right place at the right time,
except in the beginning with Reggie.
-Katherine may not agree with that assessment!
-The beginning is good with the usual activities
at the beginning of a school year, and the ending
is very good, too.
-I am glad you had a good visit with your son.
-As to a title, my suggestion is it is a bit early
to tell, but you may have more chapters done.
-Sometimes the title is the last thing that is decided.
-I enjoyed the chapter.

Hello Barbara, a terrific Thursday to you. I enjoyed reading this chapter of your story. I know he's just a character, but man that Mr. Frost seems like he's a real A-hole. I like the strength of your main character. It will be interesting to see how this plays out and what Gabriel's true intentions are. Have a great day!

WOW!! What a bastard! Sorry, but I would have done more than slap his face! What a creep! I do hope he gets his comeuppance! I'm so pleased Katherine stood up to him and put him in his place. Obviously his wife had a lot to put up with and walked out on him! This was a brilliant chapter, Barbara, well written and so exciting. Well done, I can't wait for the next part. I'm glad you had a lovely time with your son, Steven. :)) Sandra xx

Hello Barbara.Wilkey,
Nice piece of Romance Fiction having lucid as well as perfectly matching the theme phraseology, captivating flow throughout from the beginning to the end, and beautifully depicting its theme.
Katherine Riley's actions and reactions are particularly noteworthy.
Interesting!
