To Ride a Unicorn

Second Place in December Poem of the Month

I thought I'd ride a unicorn
to reach the rainbow’s peak.
From there, I’d jump the Milky Way
and learn the stars’ mystique.

I’d dash around the universe
and spin on Saturn’s rings,
and bask in silver moonlight
while a choir of angels sings.

Just maybe I’d find answers to
the many questions asked,
and possibly the mysteries
of time would be unmasked.

But then I gave up thinking on
the foolish and absurd,
for everything we need to know
is in God’s Holy Word.
