"First cut is the deepest" is a song by Cat Stevens. It came out the summer I met my first boyfriend. I will never forget him. We did climb a boulder and every time we touched it felt like a little electric shock.

TANKA is a Japanese poetic form that originated in the Japanese Imperial Court, where men and women engaged in courtship would exchange tanka. The form was created 1,200 years ago. Like haiku, it's written in a succinct manner in 31 syllables (5/7/5/7/7) OR LESS in a short/long/short/long/long format because Japanese and English syllables are different. Personification, metaphor, simile are permitted in Tanka. Capitalization and punctuation should only be used when necessary.
