A mindless mind
The Bus leaving from Split

Good morning class.
Please take your seats.
We`re going to be pressed for time and the City Transportation Services has asked for our help.
You have each been given a short profile of Jovic Timric. He is a 67 year old male, presumed homeless and wandering the neighborhood, specifically the City Bus Terminal. He hasn`t posed any danger that we are aware of but the City has concerns. They have provided us a closed caption incident taking place this past week at the bus terminal hub. Our mission is to qualify and quantify and make a recommendation.
You will watch a short video. At the conclusion, I will call on one student for an assessment. The assignment for our next class is to take that assessment and provide a recommendation for treatment. We know this from city medical files, Mr. Timric has been seen for a condition known as Myoclonus. It causes sudden jerks of the extremities, a little bit like tourettes.
Since this video will take up most of the class time, I will be asking Sophia to provide an assessment at its conclusion.
Although the subject is seen with other folks, he speaks to himself.

Why hello there. I see you`re waiting on the bus heading to Dubrovnic.
What? No. Some call it twitching. I just call it Myoclonus. Big word, right?
Mind if I sit? I`ve taken this same bus on many occasions. It`s a lovely ride.
Traveling alone?
I`m sorry, am I being a bit nosey? Let me introduce myself. I`m Jovic, so nice to meet you.
You`re a quiet one.
Me, not this evening. I just like to come by and see who might be traveling. You never know who makes this trip on a regular basis. Did I tell you, my name is Jovic. Nice to meet you.
Would you like to know what I had for dinner this evening? It was delicious. I found it. I saved some. Would you like to see?
Don`t go. The bus won`t be here for another 20 minutes. Have I upset you?
Damit Jovic. You always seem to scare people away. Just sit and be still for once. Can you do that?
And by the way, dinner was horrible. I don`t know how you eat some of the stuff you pull out of the garbage. I`d rather go hungry than eat the shit you give me.
Now be a good boy and go say hello to that nice couple standing over by the vending machine. Maybe they can buy you a Coke so that you can wash down the awful taste I have in my mouth from the crap we ate this evening. Now go on.
Hello my name is Jovic. Nice to meet you. Are you taking the bus to Dubrovnic? It`s a lovely ride. I`m not going tonight. But I would like a Coke to help get rid of the terrible taste I have in my mouth from the dinner I ate this evening.
You dumbass. Could you be a little more subtle? Like, `excuse me, I am a little short this evening and my dinner has not settled well, and a Coke would be marvelous`. Could you help a friend, please?
Don`t go. The bus won`t be here for another 20 minutes. Have I upset you?
Great, let`s go before I throw up. You make me sick. You know that?
Excuse me sir, my name is Jovic. I have a friend who is ready to throw up and really needs a Coke to settle his stomach. Could you please help a friend?

Jesus Christ, that was amazing. Let`s go finish our dinner.

Sophia, give us your assessment.
"We have already been given the file indicating that the subject suffers from Myoclonus. Outside of that I would conclude that there are two additional symptoms Mr. Timric suffers from: Schizophrenia by virtue of a conversation he seems to be having with himself and someone who is delusional. He speaks of the lovely trips he has taken although we know he is homeless and probably doesn`t have the means to travel, hence, he spends time at the bus station imagining these trips."
Sophia, I would say you`re pretty accurate.
Next week, let`s take Sophia`s conclusion and provide a treatment plan. There is work to be done.
