September By the Sea

Whenever the dew bathes the early, soft morning

and twitters of birdsong awaken my mind,

I stretch as I waken abandoning slumber

emerging from comfort and blankets that bind.

Arising as dawn paints the sky in pink roses,

God's music of faithfulness beckons to me;

I sit on the shore as I'm washed by the rhythms;

communing with Life as I'm one with the sea.

The warmth of the sun as it spans the horizon

caresses my skin as it chases the chill.

Discordant emotions are soothed by reflection,

releasing the tension from my pent up will.

September relaxes in dusky, gold colors

as grasses turn brittle on dunes by the sea,

By faith, I surmise that I also have seasons,

and I must embrace them... for they're part of me.
