We all know her as Mermaids, but her real name is Elaine
She's lovely as a Spring time day, just freshened by the rain
Her home is in Cape Cod; its such a perfect mermaid scene
With her two cats and guinnea pigs, I bet life is serene
It has been many years since that sweet day they met online
They fell in love and married and their life was more than fine
Together almost 16 years and then one day he passed
She misses him so very much; it all went way too fast
Her poetry is fantasy; for her it's therapy
She writes about the unicorns, and things we cannot see
But she has creativity; runs in her ancestry
Her niece's and her nephew's art, add to the fam'ly tree
She works in an Alzheimer's unit in a nursing home
She deals with stress by relaxing while she writes her next poem
Degree in Anthropology, this woman is so smart
And just a little more about Elaine, before we part
She's sixty five, and rare, we'll have a sweet birthday affair
And we'll all stare into the air and fireworks will flare
A Happy Birthday Care to Mermaid Extraordinaire
And we will all declare, you seem too young for Medicare
