May we all give a 5-year-old a magnifying glass.
Through the Eyes of a Grandson
by papa55mike
I stare into the radiant
blue eyes of my grandson watching him scan every wrinkle
that engulfs my face
with his new
magnifying glass
he smiles wide kisses my cheek, then wanders away to explore he creeps up on a
dandelion turned to seed lens in hand his mind absorbs the knowledge of a flower snapping the stalk and blowing its seed high in the air, following each one to the ground a yellow-striped butterfly
passes by on the way to a Zinnia gently, it lands beside him his monocle in hand studying its every move drinking in the nectar seeing the delicate nature of life to its fullest we're sitting at a table
in the shade of an oak painting a birdhouse with his glass he studies the brush
before dipping in the red touching the wall and seeing the paint penetrate the grain of the wood then, impatiently waiting for the new home to dry ******
may his thirst for wisdom
grow and last a lifetime |
In the picture is my great-grandson, Coltan James. He's painting a birdhouse with me.
