The Death Carriage

by Gypsy Blue Rose

Gothic Love Tragedy Poem

The Death Carriage

It was too far along for hope

and the thought of life without you

broke my heart and soul.

I couldn't fathom to go on alone

and I knew that if you went

I would follow along

The Death Carriage was outside our home

and I begged the Grim Reaper

to let us go.

I said goodbye to our bed

where we made love and slept

for so many evenfalls.

I said goodbye to our hearth

that kept us warm

Winter and Autumn.

I said goodbye to the moon, the stars, and the sun.

we had so many dusks and dawns.

I said goodbye to our backyard

with cherry blossoms in the trees

and lotus in the pond.

As we passed parks,

we waved to old men resting on benches

and children playing hopscotch.

We gazed one last time

to the waves of golden wheat

where weathered farmers worked the land.

As night reached the end

morning dew cried silently for us

as we said goodbye to life holding hands.
