The author has placed a warning on this post for violence.

The third day on Planet U-R-F-ta-321 was the worst yet. My navigator, Lt. Watson, had been experiencing hallucinations since we exposed ourselves to the planet's atmosphere.

"Your eyes are definitely more -- bulbous -- than they were yesterday," he told me.

Actually, my vision was improved by tenfold. I was able to identify objects, with great detail, that were over a kilometer away.

"I swear your mouth is shifting to the right side of your face, Captain. Your complexion is jaundiced and green. Your ears are beginning to look like drink coasters."

Watson's observations belied his negatively affected mind. There had been no changes to my physical being. I was, however, improving in all sensorial areas. I could hear all things that moved or thought. I felt the heat waves radiate through my cells, and I could already taste Watson's flesh.

The fourth day, I was a bit lonesome.
