I have my grandchildren every weekend. Some days can be challenging, but I love seeing the world through their eyes. I have four children but so far only one has increased our herd. Lol. Doubled it. Great poem. Gretchen

So Gretchen, you are expecting more to come from your other children. You are so lucky. Mine came and I had them almost every weekend and some all week, but we did so much together. I made tents for them all thru out the living room so their tents had rooms, played gramma monster on my bed where I would turn into the GM and then I would go back to myself and pretend I didn't know that I had just tried to grab them and growl at them. They loved that game. We made science experiments, volcanos using Coca Cola, stacked duct tape and also do crafts. Sorry for going on and on. There was just so much activity all the time. And when they woke up in the morning they always knew they were going to get rocked and sang to. They loved it so much, they would sit on the floor and listen and wait their turn. And always a dr Seuss book. "Theres a wocket in my pocket" was our favorite. Sorry, but I am so envious of you right now. Let me know how many you have so far? I truly do love kids.

This was a beautiful poem. And, indeed, the love of children for loving parents is the most profound love that exists between human beings. The line "should have been four" was heartbreaking. Suffering such a loss is a terrible thing.

Dear Joan, you are going to love it like nothing you ever have known. It is a love like no other. And you will have so much fun. I played gramma monster, made tents, volcanoes, rocked them when they woke up and stacked and made crafts with duct tape. I had every color possible. There was always something.. love love love my time with them and have to tell you don't blink cause when you do they grow up too fast. thanks so much for all your kindness regarding my children's poem.

as for our grandchildren...they are what keeps
us alive when our kids leave home...and the
house loses the sound of the laughter of once was...
I keep saying I'll be glad when my grandkids grew up...
and become doctors, lawyers, and Indian chiefs...
but when I think about it...as they are growing older...
so am I...OUCH...

the heart...and your picture is beyond priceless...love ya much...

This is a great picture of your descendants and a wonderful poem to go with it. I never got to give birth, but I raised seven children and now there are four more in the next generation. It's hard to believe how much we can love them and want the best for them.

Dearest Carol, you are amazing, sweet lady. Would you mind if I knew how you raised seven kids but never gave birth. You must have married someone with kids, or someone died? Whatever the case I so admire you.

We adopted a 9 year old boy and then 2 years later 9 and 10 year old girls. When the older girl grew up, she had 4 children and first gave us 4 and 5 year old boys. Then she gave us an 18 month old girl and then a 3 year old boy lived with us but she wouldn't give up custody of him. It has been one big happy family most of the time.
