I'm extremely proud of you, Harry for a lot of reasons and happy that I knew you were a good person long before I read this story. I grew up "thinking" I was poor, because that was how my parents lived - niave little girl. I was also a "nerd" - smart, a writer, and shy and yes poor. didn't have the slick new clothes or trinkets that all the other girls had. To say that as an adult when I learned my parents owned 40 apartment buildings and were able to live in Florida half the year was mind blowing.... They had money but they didn't spend it, at least not on me. When my father bought his first new car and paid cash I flipped.
He said he had grown up poor and it had taught him to be someone who could succeed without anyone else and that's what he wanted to teach me. Can't wasn't a word in his vocabulary. I'm glad that you moved forward and found a better life... and that you were so helpful to others in need. I stand like a "protective mother hen" throughout the years with my mentally challenged son. I appreciate that you did too.

Wow, your story really hit me. Your honesty about your struggles is powerful. I could feel the weight of moving. I could feel that moment when you stood up for the kids being bullied. It sounds like your time in Box Town made you a better person. I love how you carry that strength into helping others now. Your journey from hardship to success is inspiring. You've come so far! And it's clear that your past helped you get where you are now. Thank you for sharing this! I really enjoyed reading it.
