Your new home sounded gorgeous, Beth, I'm so glad you were able to afford it. I'd have wanted it too. It goes to show that anything is possible if you want it bad enough. I can just imagine your worry when Connie went missing, and Christi was worried too. Anyway, off to read about your move into that wonderful house! :)) Sandra xx

Thank you Sandra. Moves aren't easy. I hope I don't have to move anymore, but you never know what may happen.

.Hello Beth your chapter in the book Remembering Yesterday
Living Like Gypsies. I found enjoyable to read, Cause it reminded so much when Stan and I were were selling our home, and building a new home that you described was like the one we were building
Thank you for sharing your memories

Wow!! What a wonderful chapter here, Beth -- but I gotta tell ya, that Connie was definitely a handful, yeah? ;) :) And what a great ending for today: yes, there's always something for which to be grateful! ;) Thanx for sharing! ;) Yvette

Thanks for the review and comments. Yep, she was a handful as a teenager. If they all been like her I don't know if we'd made it or not.

What great stories - how you found such a wonderful house, right when you needed it, and your husband's ingenuity in making a table by unhinging a door. You know they say when God closes one door, he opens another - you and your family have travelled, door to door.
And Connie must be a handful if she took off to Six Flags without telling you!
Thank you for sharing.

Beautiful memory, Beth. Reminders that regardless of our struggles and difficult times, if we truly look we can find our blessings are right there for us to see. How wonderful that your husband did such a wonderful thing for his wife and family - went that extra mile especially with the door. Smiles to you!

Yet another lively chapter in your family life, and with a husband who could cook! What a wonderful Thanksgiving it must have been. And what a handful your Connie was, until she grew up!

As usual, I'm full of suggestions:

It was September and Connie had started her year as a Freshman at the Collegedale Academy.

I'm happy for you, that you found your proverbial dream house. I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop, with that Realtor who thought you were wealthy and was eyeing Don as a husband for her daughter! I hope it wasn't too troublesome for anyone.

Wow! The Lord does miracles. When you described the house, I knew you would get it despite all the counter-offers that the owner put you through. I am now concerned about the realtor getting too interested in Don because she thinks you are rich. Thanks for sharing and also including about the political scene about Reagan.

One suggestion:
"window like openings into the great room" (window-like)

Than you much, Helen. Yes, the Lord blessed us so many times, more than we deserved, but we were so thankful. You will soon be learning more about the real-estate lady and her daughter.
Thank so much for the six stars.

Yes, you had a lot to be thankful for. The house sounds like everyone's dream home. You were so fortunate to find it. You did a lot of moving and changing jobs, but you both handled it well. Well done, Beth. Nancy:)

Thank you for the review and the comments. I had lived in the house in Metairie for sixteen years and I've been in two houses in Tennessee for Thirty-four years. I don't feel like I do a an lot of moving, but have had a lot of jobs. I would be bored if I stayed with one for long.

This is well-written and interesting to read. I'm so impressed you are doing this for you kids. I had a friend who talked about doing the same thing as she'd had a very interesting life, but I didn't know I had convinced her to do it until her funeral after she was killed by an impaired driver and she had left a copy for each of her children and I was their hero.
