I smiled all the way through this chapter, especially at the end when Don meets the Real Estate Agent's daughter. Your children are incredibly clever - I never would have dreamed of intercepting mail about my school work and forging better grades!
Also, just like a mother, you take it upon yourself to feel guilty about not being better prepared for Christmas at a time when you had so much else going on in your life.
You are doing a wonderful thing by writing these memories for your children, and you are writing them well!

Good morning Beth - Second time around on this one because I was distracted by my son and forgot to hit save. Moving days are really an Ugh! We tend to gather so much - ours, theirs, relatives - and so much we think we can't part with. And the emotional baggage is another story! I have a great=granddaughter who is recently transplanted and she refuses to share Valentines because she says her friends are in Florida. Smiles to you!

I like that you gave kids three gifts each and a stocking full of surprises. Then after getting the house, you had to tell them that the house was the gift. It was nice your realtor came and visited your family because you helped her making some of her income.

Yes. Sometimes you just have to believe in fate.

Well done.

Exciting! I hope that Don and Kimberly are still happily married.

We could only hope Connie would stay out of trouble [OMIT COMMA] until we could return.

In the last couple of months [OMIT COMMA] we would learn that she had skipped classes several times.

Most of this [OMIT COMMA] we were yet to learn.

[OMIT: It was] the following morning [OMIT, when] we closed on the Chattanooga house and were able to move into our new home.

The kids all loved the house and everyone, including Christi and Connie [COMMA] were delighted to claim their own rooms.

She woke[OMIT HYPHEN]up crying,

She had been in Mississippi with her grandparents [OMIT COMMA] every Christmas day since she'd been alive, and she didn't want to spend the holiday in Chattanooga.

Very true. Some things are just meant to be. I enjoyed reading your memoirs again. I don't ever get tired of them. Many of them have happened during a time frame that I remember. Thank you.

Oh, how cute! It's much better than Don and Kimberly met that way - through other friends and not because of her mother's intervention!
I'm sorry that you had that trouble with Connie. I guess you'll find out about the letters and report cards soon.

Hi Beth, so the move has now been accomplished, and everything seems to me fine. Now, I'm sure we will learn more about Connie. And Don has met his fate? Maybe so, maybe not. We'll see. I love this memoir. Ulla:)))

In this chapter you are hinting at the problems you were having with Connie. I'm wondering when you finally found out what she was doing.
Your move sounds like a colossal headache, but you sure handled it well.
The new house sounds grand and the way Don met Kimberley was stunning. You are so right when you say...

Sometimes, there is no logical explanation as to why these things happen. You just have to assume it was meant to be

A good chapter of transition.

NB:
the children had (a) least three gifts>>s/b 'at'

Christi (choose) Christmas>>c/b 'chose'

Thank you Ralf. I do appreciate the review and comments. I've corrected the spag but thanks for pointing them out. I finally talked to the teacher by phone. I asked why they hadn't let before what was going on and then I learn they had sent numerous message than I never received. Connie admitted it but she continued to give us problems for a while.

The funny thing with God, He has a way of arranging things so that they will happen, no matter how well we plan them, they are going to happen anyway, one only has to look at the Bible and see that, an yet He doesn't manipulate, it's one of the questions I have for Him. Well done Beth, blessings Roy
