So she was the next target of the criminal, but he decided against her. So lunchroom ladies are vicious, I guess. And the criminal is a highschool kid.
That is a sad story with a humorous twist.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Congrats on placing third in the contest.

You fun ny Mr. Dennis! That saying Is true "When guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns"
in this case, knives.
I read of a siuation where a little ol widow lady, shot and killed a man who broke into her house.

I saw a wrning sign that said,BEWARE! TRAINED GUARD DOG! Then someone wrote on the sign,"Don't worry about the dog, beware of my wife" Always contending for the faith -Jerry

Great writing! And the photo is perfection. You really hit home with this one. It is true, being alone, you need protection. Glad that it turned out well.
Best wishes,
Marie

Yes, beware of the retired lunchroom ladies. They know where the snacks are kept. Without them, where would we be? A darling entry for the flash, dear Deniz.

Even with the picture, the words portray a little old lady and her cat. The man's name implies a tough guy. To have known she was a retired lunch room lady, he would have had to have been a former student or parent of one. Which also meant she could have ID'd him. A lot was said is so few words. Good job

Love this short tale about how a lunch room lady is respected. Excellent flow of story and I like how this lady has a cat. You have a wonderful ending that makes the reader feel good.

I love that! He obviously recognised her as being a lunchroom lady. I think all she needed to do is hang a plaque up on her door!! The twist was brilliant, Deniz, and it's an excellent contest entry. Well done and good luck! :)) Sandra xx

Maybe this lady doesn't need a German shepherd after all. I expect working in lunch room at a school probably toughens you up enough to handle most situations.

I recently learned there is quite a bit of humor involving lunch room ladies. Playing against type or exceeding expectations is always intriguing
    i believe. Thanks for reviewing!

This is an interesting piece of Flash Fiction. I like Maggie and her cat Boss. I'm not sure why Rocky decides that Maggie is not a good target for his thievery. It could be because he recognizes her from the lunchroom, or because she's hearing about him on the TV. Good luck in the contest.

Your puzzlement has been echoed by some others as well. Google "lunchroom ladies" and you will see there's quite a bit of humor associated with their jobs. It's possible it began with a movie spotlighting them.

    Thanks for reviewing!

This is a riot, with a fantastic finishing line. Ho would dare mess with a lunchroom lady? You set the scene well and had us qll worried for the little old lady, and then BAM, you surprised us with the ending. Very nice.

Thanks! Several reviewers had to be brought up to speed with the lunchroom ladies recent rep as hard cases not to be trifled with.
