Bless your heart. This is an journey that your children will live
For years and will be able to tell their children about their lives.
You've really accomplished a lot in here,
I doubt my journals look like yours. Mostly, I spoke about my
Emotions at the time when things were happening.
We need to know how you were feeling about what was going
On around you.
I'm interested in happenings, but mostly I care about you and what
You were thinking at the time.
Keep writing, my friend,
My best,
Marie

Thank you Marie, I really appreciate the review and nice comments. I'm not an extremely emotional person and I tend to live in the moment and take things as they come without analysing how I feel about them. I seldom hold any feeling I may have long enough to be angry, resentful, or sad. I am bacically content no matter what happens. It would extremely difficult for me to keep an journal about feelings. My daughter, Carol's feeling run deeper and her journals are all about feeling. I admire people who can do that. I'll try to see if I can remember how I felt at the time. It won't be easy.

I admire you for putting up with all those work difficulties and while you had so much going on at home.
I am glad that Christi was alright after that accident. Hopefully, she got safe car after that. I guess it's good that her boyfriend moved away.
I always love it when you give us the historical context for your family saga. It helps me realize that all those the calamities we are facing - the mass shootings, the fires, climate and political issues were happening then, too!

Hi Beth, yet another delighhtful chapter where you, once again, bring us close to your family and the dynamics of it.
1991 was a major event in my family as my then husband went to the Gulf war. Our daughter was 10 at the time. One Danish fregate went there.
I only found a minor thing:
which had began dissolving = which had begun dissolving
I can't waiit to be reading on.

Thank you Ulla. I'm so pleased you like reading about my family. I didn't know anyone in the Gulf War but it was a major story on the news.

Hi Beth. This is a good chapter delineating the news of the world and your family. Gorbachev was a Godsend and so was Reagan. The world breathed easier for a while until the Gulf War. You and Evan always had somewhere to travel to. Children and relatives in different states, as well as your country home in Mississippi. No wonder you were never idle. The running of a Printing plant is not easy and depends so much on people who know what they are doing. I cannot imagine hiring people who hadn't proven experience in any department, especially in art and camera. All very interesting.

Thank Ralf, I appreciate the review and comments. I worked in several print shops over the years but this one had far more personal problems than any I'd ever been in. The original owner ran a fine shop, but after he died the new owners didn't know anything about printing and made a lot of bad decisions. I hope you write about your shop and the sale to Reader Digest. It sounds like an interesting story.

It was. Reader's Digest mirrors what you are saying. They knew nothing about running our operation. I will not be using their name in my story, to safeguard from bring sued. LOL

Lots of eventful things are happening in your life, your family, and in the world around you. You described them in colorful detail, as always.

You had plenty of drama at your job. It's a good thing that you weren't first starting your career, and had a lot of experience with people; I don't think you let it rattle you too much.

It's a great thing that you were able to get away with your family sometimes, and forget about all the office politics.

Thank you so much for the being there for me once again. I seem to keep making a lot of careless mistakes. I was able to get along with everyone, even Jack. It fact, I kind of liked him. He was a Christian and it spite of a bad temper and inablilty to get along with most people, he and I had some interesting conversations. I felt sorry for him, because I knew the plant manager couldn't wait ot fire him.

There was so much going on on in the 80s, early nineties, it was as tempestuous as the 60s. But it was an amazing, we spent time in Ukraine in 2005, all those huge Russian statues were there, we traveled on through Russia and exited via St. Petersburg. I was saved in 1983, so, a special time, beautifully written Beth, you remember so much, well done, blessings Roy

You did a great job with this chapter, Beth. I enjoyed reading it. You handled the parts about the printing job details well. I can only imagine the tension of how all of it played out. It seems that Jack is a buffoon when it comes to running a business. I hope Carol and Glen have worked out their differences. You've had an exciting life, and it shows in this memoir.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

This is another great memory of your family life, Beth. I find your bits of history interesting. Being Canadian, much of it I have very little knowledge about, so this helps jog my memory. Than camcorder purchase seems to have been a great idea.

Thank you Judy. We enjoyed the camcorder as long as it worked. Things like that change so fast it does take long for them to be outdated. I'm not sure I can play those tapes any morel

Thank you for sharing your continuing saga of your life. You have a wonderful memory for detail. I'm doing good to remember the main points. I see from the video your daughter made that it is a family habit to be very good at seeing and recording all details. Great for you!!

Take care,
Rhonda

I understand tension at home. Since I retired from teaching the end of May, my blood pressure dropped 30 points. Talk about toxic work environments. Thank yu for sharing. I enjoy reading.

Thank you Barbara. I've had my share of work related problems but that was the most toxic place I ever worked. Employee morale was low.
