Hi, Beth,

I'm long overdue in stopping by and checking out your work--and I'm glad I did!

I really like the conversational approach you've adopted for this project. It immediately creates an intimacy with the reader and is enjoyable (and touching) to read. It also must be very therapeutic to write, and you've appear to have at least 131 of these.

I'd be surprised if there wasn't a publisher out there who'd be interested in this. The flip-side, though, is that it could use some additional proofreading--which is downright painful. At least, it is to me. For example, you've got a typo for the word "procedure" in the first paragraph.

But I have no formal background in writing. All I know is that good writing has to make the reader "feel something," and yours does.

I've found ProWritingAid to be pretty good at identifying "oversights" in my own work. Then, if you to go deeper on something like proper use of commas (which is very tricky), I've found the "grammar girl" website to be very helpful.

Again, I really loved this and think your on to something with this approach. Thanks for sharing this!

Best,

J. P.

Thank you so much for the excellent in depth review and encouraging comments. I'm so glad you read my chapter and I'm pleased that your liked it. I also appreciate you pointing out the misspelled word, and your suggestion for apps that would help find errors. I hope you'll be back. I see that I read one of your stories which i liked very much.

I like the part where your husband was driving and he was having problems with your dog. When he had to turn around and come home, the dog probably was glad, too. I have to catch up on your story, Beth!

Thank you Rosemary. I appreciate the review. I'm just slowing moving on. I've gone to 1954 to 1993.

This is a wonderful writing. Besides letting your children know their parents for who they are and were as real people, it has to be rewarding to you to keep memories fresh and Evan close.
I enjoyed the short trip with the dog.
This is timely in that my sister-in-law had a colonoscopy and unfortunately had a stroke. I guess the danger in the procedure is not that uncommon.
Regards,
Mary

Thank you Mary, I appreciate the review and comments. I guess even when thing done in hospitals are supposed to routine some bad can happen. My sister-in-law had a stroke getting an MRI. A friend got her colon perforated during a colonoscopy and spent a month in the hospital. You have to sign your life away before they touch you, so they won't get sued.

How difficult it can be to watch our children go through hard times. We experience the heartbreak with them, albeit second hand, but nonetheless intensely.
I like the way you give context to these family events by inserting snippets of the current affairs of the time.
You are doing a fine job of this biography.

Thank you Tony, I appreciate the review and comments. I guess parents are destined to suffer with our kids, but we are still glad they are in our lives.

I don't know who had a worse time -- Evan with a risky colonoscopy, or Connie with a rough breakup! And you, troubleshooting everything. You were always along for the ride, except, of course, with Evan and Kokomo, who didn't quite make it to Mississippi in the van -- probably a good move, turning back.

I don't know which is more unusual -- not finding any errors, or not finding the list of characters. Anyway, congratulations! Either you don't have any typos here, or my eyes are failing me ;-)

This is definitely worthy of a six, but it seems I'm having to stretch them further and further, lately, and I appreciate that you're very easygoing about it. I always enjoy your writing.

I don't think our country has ever recovered from Bill and Hillary.

Thank you, Mary Kay. I can't believe there were no errors. Amazing, but thank you so much for looking and for your comments. As for as the character list, that was an oversight. I had someone tell me once that couldn't keep up with all the names I mention so that is why I started putting. I didn't realize I left it out.

You're very welcome, Beth. I was wondering why you suddenly left it out, so I'm glad I mentioned it. For me, it's not too hard to keep track of your family members, but even I have to refer back to it, every now and then. God bless you, my friend.

Love the part about your husband driving with the psycho dog and then having to return home to leave him there. Your life continues to be full with your children and all the stuff in their lives.

This is another interesting chapter, Beth. I didn't realize that a colonoscopy was such a big deal, but I've never had one. I'm glad all turned out okay.

I too feel sad for Connie. Lenny seemed to be good for her.

One little spag: "while they worked to try (to) get the pressure down..."

Thank you Judy, I appreciate the review and comments. The worst part about a colonoscopy is having to drink about a gallon of not so pleasant liquid to clean your colon and then not allowing you to have food or drink. Evan's problem was all of that ran his blood pressure to the point of being dangerous. The proceedure itself is not bad so they say. I haven't had one.

Oh how sad! I feel so sorry for Connie and for Lenny, too!

Whew! What a traumatic thing for Evan that colonoscopy was! Nobody likes that procedure but having high BP and heart rate makes it dangerous.

I chuckled about trying to take Kokomo! That dog sounds too crazy to take on a car trip.

We were living in Houston when the Clintons got elected. Yes, we all thought she was a bit too aggressive.

Suggestions/Comments:
The preparation for the proceediure was rough. (procedure)
We didn't vote of him (for him)

Thank you Helen. I appreciate the review and the comments. I got a chuckle about you agreeing the Hillary was a bit too aggressive. That was the kindest comment I got about her. LOL

I was just following your diplomatic lead - the way you said it. That woman has no grace - she's so over-the-top angry and aggressive that her opponents came up with atrocious controversies about her. She's probably fine as the lady next door. Lol.

Yes, I remember these times very well. The Clintons, for sure. She was and still is evil. Connie sounds so typical for those times. Evan and I have something in common about the scope. Good one, Beth.

I must say, it's been an interesting road for you. With so many
people in your life, we hear nothing about you.
Let's get you in the picture and hear about your dreams, your feelings
and see Beth revealed.
I love your journey as it has become quite a keepsake for your children.
My best,
Marie

Thank you, Marie, The first sixty of seventy chapters were mostly about me. I figured everyone was tired of hearing so much about me. As we got older and all of my dreams had come true, most of what I hoped for was smooth sailing for my children. Their lives are the most important thing for me at this time. Later when their lives are running a little smoother, it will be more about me again as I retire and do some traveling.
