This is an excellent portrait of your family. You make is so rich by writing in such detail. It's wonderful for your children to have such a detailed and heartfelt piece. One thing: college full- time . Remove the space in full-time.

The ups and downs of married life and parenting, the stress, the relief, is all in this chapter. I found it interesting because this was at the dawn of the computer age and I was just starting to find my around them too at that time. The fact that women hardly get to enjoy all the holidays because of all the work cooking is great to throw in too. I often marvelled at how my mother did for decades, putting in all the hours and hours of work for a dinner that disappears in 15 minutes. estory

I remember when computers were the price you mentioned, it is amazing how far down they have come in price. I think my parents had mixed emotions when my brother and his wife were expecting their first baby. Your life continues to be full and yes, the holidays can be exhausting.

Awe, Beth. Again you are indulging us with what is happening in your family and, as usual, you don't disappoint. I so enjoyed it. This chapter is a breather, but so is life. Now, Don and Kimberly are expecting a baby. Ulla:)))

In raising a family much as you and I have, one never knows what life has restored, especially when having babies. Interesting. I hope you are well.

Congratulations on your first grandchild being on the way -- over 25 years later! Sometimes the best things aren't planned, although I do hope they eventually got their finances under control, for the sake of all of you!
Yes, it was very important to get a jump-start, learning computers in those days, when not everyone did.

The Shelby family was living an eventful life, as always. It doesn't sound as though traveling around California interfered in any way with Kimberly and Don becoming parents.

I wonder if a down-burst is the same as a microburst? I don't know much about storms, but you seem to have some experience with them. It was terrible, about the Northridge earthquake in L.A., which I don't recall, but it was apparently quite deadly. We're having a lot of natural disasters these days, especially. I do think we're either living in the last days, or they're quickly approaching.

Thank you Mary Kay. You really have an eagle-eye when it comes to seeing things others overlook. Yes the microburst is likely the more correct way of expressing what happened. I changed it to that. Don and Kimberly never learned how to deal with money and we continued having to help. Christi didn't learn either.

You're very welcome, Beth. Yes, I think God has gifted me in that way. But when it comes to managing money, I think I'm more like your children Christi, Don and Kimberly. You're a lot like my mother, who always managed money well. You'd probably get along great! I've been staying with her this week, and I'm going home today. God bless you, and thank you for your prayers. Love, Mary Kay xoxo

I'm not sure how parents wait until life is almost perfect to have a child. I always loved the excitement and surprised joy of a child's announcement. Reading this makes me long for our one daughter and son in law to have that child they have talked about. I long for those days of grandparenting. Thanks so much for the creativity of how you talk to your husband through the book. It is worthy.

You are so right. There is never the perfect time to have a child if you base it what it will cost. You have think how much love that child will bring into your home. I love the three grandchildren I have and I don't regret any of them being born. I really appreciate the review and comments. I hope you get that grandchild.
