Never easy, and always a big adjustment, moving someone into your home to caretake them, even if they are close family.

Nice update on what the children were doing, except if a doctor takes in another one why would they not try to help get their practice off the ground? Jealousy perhaps?

    Thank you for the review and comments. I think the doctor should have helped. He told him to go the mall and do free demonstrations and he could do walk-ins. No one ever just walked it. The doctor wanted him to pay for the room and equipment use. It didn't work out too long.

This was a wonderful story of your life, My parents and in laws are up there in age , 80, 90, and 90. I sensed the long day your dad experienced, glad he is reading and you are writing.

    Thank you Joann. This was in 1995. I'm getting close to where he was now but I live alone and have no trouble taking care of my need so far. At the time, he seemed old but I have trouble thinking of myself that way.

It is amazing how animals seem to know who to love and protect. I wonder sometimes if angels talk to them and tell them who to trust. LOL You had such a busy life. I don't know how you remembered all of this. Did you keep a journal? Well done, Beth. Nancy:)

    Thank you Nancy, I think you may be right about the angels communicating with animals. If heard so many amazing stories about animals saving lives and they do seem to know when they are needed. Actually I did get a journal during the two years my Dad was with me and a lot of what I'm writing comes from reading what I wrote back then.

I loved that the dog went straight to your dad and made instant friends. Dogs seem to know if something is wrong with a person. I'm sure that made a big difference to all your lives. It is hard work caring for an elderly parent. But one day there are not there anymore, and that can be harder still. Another very interesting part in your story, my friend. :)) Sandra xxx

    Thank you, Sandra. I don't regret taking care of my Dad. I did miss him when he was gone. The dog helped make his days better much to our surprise.

Hi Beth, as usual, I read this from start to finish, thoroughly enjoying it. I'm glad that your father had settled in and started to get better. I can see that Christi finding her own place would have helped matters as well. I really enjoyed the instant love between your father and Kokomo.

    Thank you Ulla. It was a relief when my Dad started feeling better and I was so happy the dog liked him. That was unexpected because he didn't really like anyone else.

Here you have shared your experience of living with your deceased husband, the matter and events are all recollected from your memories, drawing from your personalized state of living, caring the family and your gardening, even people wanted to listen to your stories of living as you shared; you need not take much care to your dad; well said, well done; post god speed more; positively encouraging editing, negatively not wording, forgiving errors of theist-good authors-writers. Enjoyed it. So you wrote for a magazine? Interesting. Like Evan, I too enjoyed the art of growing veggies. For Don, it does take a lifetime to build a client list but in the end, it is worth it. Keep it rolling.

    Thank you Chuck. I'm glad you are enjoying my story. Evan was a country boy at heart but his mom said. I don't want my boys to grow up to farmers. LOL I really appreciate the stars.

That pic is terrifying--did he really look that fierce? One of my favorite songs is Kokomo--this creature has ruined it for me! Wonderful as to your being published--writing and artwork. Hooray as to Christi leaving (sort of).

    Thank Elizabeth. Yes that dog looked exactly like that as he leaped six feet in the air every time anyone walked through my front door. He put on a sweet and gentle face for my Dad though. Yes, Christi wasn't completely gone but she didn't lose her temper when clients were around so things were a bit more peaceful.

I'm so glad that Kokomo sensed your dad needed a friend. That was a miracle in itself. I'm also glad that you were able to bless your father during this time and that he cared about your time, too. Congratulations on the publications of your writings and artwork!!

Question:
"who removed a cataract, which had made him practically blind in one eye." (Did the cataract make him blind in one eye or did the removal of the cataract make him blind in one eye? I was hoping they could have fixed his eye blindness.)

    Thank you so much Helen for the review and comment and for calling my attention to the spot that wasn't quite clear. I have to fix that. Dad had a cataract so thick he couldn't see out of that eye. The doctor removed it and he could use the eye again. The doctor said it was the thickest cataract he had ever removed.

    Wow. I keep wondering when I should have cataract surgery. Mine aren't bad but most people get them out and have new lenses implanted.

So much has happened, since I left off following your story! Wow, you had a new granddaughter! And I'm sorry your mother passed away.

The only errors I found were in the mini-bios at the bottom:

Kimberly s Don's wife.
-->
Kimberly is Don's wife.

Lennie is Connie' s fomer boyfriend she dated through highschool.
-->
Lennie is Connie's former boyfriend she dated through high school.

He attents the same college.

Sorry I haven't been around much. I do enjoy your stories. Life has still been very difficult for me, my husband and my mother. We are trusting in the Lord.

    Thank you, Mary Kay. I've missed you. You and your family are still in the thoughts and prayers. I'm amazed that my errors were all in the family line-up. I appreciate your comment and six stars.

    Dear Beth, thank you for missing me, and at the same time, understanding my situation. Yes, I didn't find errors in the text, so I went on to read the "family line-up" -- knowing it's easy to miss errors there. I'm always happy to help, if I can :-)
    God bless you, my friend.
    Love, Mary Kay xoxo
