The poem ends with the most important words "treacherous love" which was of course his intention from the very beginning. All too late she understands what he had in mind.

Enjoyed your poem and your notes! I think "murasaki" means "purple." That's cool that have purple for a name.
I liked how the poet addressed the moon. And as the moon affects the waves and is full or hidden, ever changing, the poet is reminded of a "treacherous love."

Lotus? Reminds me of that cactus that only blooms at night and dies at dawn?
Dang! Tanka were invented during the first century? Kinda romantic poem. No rhymes. Limited punctuation? Looks like a dandy!

Yes, tanka is supposed to be romantic and passionate but modern tanka can be about other themes.
