This is very interesting and kept me on the edge of my seat as I read it. I can't wait to read more of this. You used great dialogue and very good descriptive words. Thank you for sharing! Merry Christmas! Teri

Very nice dialogue. Good work.
One thing that always gets me is how writers deal with time.
Some will have a conversation that takes at most 2-3 minutes but claim that an hour passed. Here, you have Colleen accept a steaming cup of coffee and finish it in a 2-3 minute interview. Hmmm.
Anyway, nice progress. And watch out for Missy.

I can honestly say I can finish a coffee hot and black in under 5 minutes. And if hurried, I have been known to gulp the remainder. Not exactly ladylike but I get what you're saying. Thanks so much for this great review. Gretchen

Miranda has been warned a couple of times and her own gut. Missy is out to get her. I really don't trust her. I am also happy that Mitch believes Miranda. I really like this story. You're doing a good job writing it.

I loved the ending, Gretchen. Her implied vulnerability in the face of her outward demeanor. She Is scared. She Does need her momma.

My eyes flicker to the Gazette on the coffee table. [This part is magic given what her purpose for it was, and what the reporter has just said. You didn't over or underplay it. You just flickered her eyes to it. Bravo!]

I do hope when this comes to an end that you try to get it published, or at least self-publish, if you don't want to go through the rigamarole.

Jay

I plan on self publishing for sure. Have had moderate success with the other stories I've self published. I think body language and tics make a character real. Miranda is very real to me. Thank you for your encouragement. It helps more than you know. Lol. Gretchen

By moderate success, do you mean people other than your family bought your stories? I'm asking because I have never had success with any of my published stories.
reply by the author on 20-Dec-2022
Yes. The first book The 'Shine Baby sold about 400 copies. The second one Sins of My Father sold about the same. The last one Baby Steps is still selling. But I would like to publish Miranda's story when I'm done. But the cost of self publishing keeps getting more expensive.

Oh, wait! You don't mean Amazon self-published books. That's the only way I've gone. Well, except for my first disastrous attempt at what I thought was a legit publisher: Publish America!

Although the reporter is interested in sensation, and really selling copy, I think she sees more potential in Ms Toblerone than in Miranda, Miranda real does exude normality, a rough diamond, but at least honest as she can be. Beautifully written, blessings Roy

Well isn't that something! Missy has a vendetta against Miranda! That makes me think Missies husband admired Miranda
in some way and for some reason mentioned it to Missy. That
must have made her jealous of Miranda and now she is out to destroy her. That is scary! Good job, Gretchen. Nancy:)

Some people need their momma, and other need to stay as far away from momma as they possibly can. Not all mommas know the right answers. LOL. Thanks for sharing. But please, don't tell momma I said that. :-)

I promise you mom will never heat it from me. Lol. Great review and very true. Some moms are good at advice and others terrible. Gretchen

Gretchen! I'd like to six all of these if I could. Just consider that done. But the sixies is not what writing is all about. Your style is addicting. I haven't read one chapter where I didn't want more yesterday. I apologize because I'm about to reference your writing to a bowl of Doritos. I know I'm going to want more before I even start eating. Damn, girl! Good stuff! Missy's character is exploding before our eyes! Best, JohnC

I like the dorito comparison. You're speaking my language. Missy is gonna explode soon. This is very, very loosely based on someone I used to work with. Drama has been amped up but a dangerous, no conscience kind of girl. It's been very therapeutic. Lol. Thank you for the great review and the nice compliments. Both appreciated. Gretchen.

Wow, this was a bit of a change of direction. I wonder what the reporter will do with her interview notes. Still a great read and I always look forward to more from you.No spags.

Interesting read. It's hard to jump into the middle of something, but I got the gist of it. Really good character development.

One fine tune. People speak in contractions. It just comes natural:
"I know Missy. She is a born liar."
(She's)

Good stuff!

I think Miranda was trying to make a point. Sounds more emphatic when each word is stressed. But thank you for this. I get what you're saying. Thank you for this great review. Gretchen

Ahhh. Italicize the word ?is? and that would come across exactly how you meant it. Nicely done
