So Waylon things with his father back on the scene he will be forced to leave Miranda's house.

Miranda wants to help Aaron, but wishes to do so legally.

Plenty of action still to come in this and a mystery to solve.

I could see the bond growing between Waylon and
Miranda, Gretchen. I hope it remains strong. She really
does care for him, and he cares for her, too. You did a great
job with this chapter. There were so many things to include.
I liked the discussion about the pond and submerged car.
Miranda was right to think to run it by Mitch first on the
possible plans to investigate it more. I liked the sensitivity
you used to show Waylon when he heard what Miranda said
about letting him stay as long as he wished with her rather
than that fly by night Dougie. I hope she doesn't give him any
money as she'll never see it again--throwing good money after
bad so they say. U could see Mitch and Miranda becoming an
item a few chapters back.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

An excellent episode, lots of things going on here, you've got my head spinning, what with Dougie, dates with sherrifs, bodies in cars underwater, and playing parent to a teenager and his young friend Aaron, good scribing Gretchen, blessings Roy

When I got on FanStory today, I thought, 'I would really like to read about Miranda today.' Thank you for posting. I'm really attached to her. Glad Mitch is coming over, although not really a date.

He stands there looking like some baby faced man-child. (baby-faced)

Waylon is looking at me. (Maybe - Waylon looks at me.

"Yes?" I say, turning to face him as I sit down on the couch. (you can omit 'down')

"Thank you." He looks the pastry over with unbridled last in his eyes. (lust???)

Well, I must admit, I'm glad Miranda didn't take the creep back, but in today's world, I know there is always a chance for her to give in and start the warped cycle all over again. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

I think she's wise to get Mitch to go with her. No telling what they'll find. I hope there's not a body in that car. Anxiously waiting to find out. Great chapter.

Hi, Gretchen. I'm thinking Miranda made the right choice to get Mitch envolved. And when he asked if it was a date she never said it wasn't > great segway into deeper things between them. I'm lovin' this saga more each time I read. Best, JohnC

This is great how you keep the reader in mystery through the beginning. A great image: "I cock one eyebrow and place my hands on my hips. "And, I'm saying it again."
The ending will bring the reader back.
