I've traveled extensively in my younger days. Spain, Greece and the Scandinavian countries are the ones that I quite wanted to see but sadly, never made it. I doubt I will now, but your beautiful poem is inspiring.

I remember seeing the fields of poppies while living in Germany. They were gorgeous as is your poem and the photograph you shared with us. Of course, when I see poppies, I always think of the 'In Flanders Field'.

I haven't watched Flanders Field. Were you in the Army? or did you live in Germany as a civilian? I love poppies. I played with them when I was a little girl. Our poppies are always red. In California, we have yellow poppies.

My husband was active Army. We did two different tours of Germany for a total of 8 years. While there we took the advantage of visiting the rest of Europe.

Oh, how lucky. I would love to travel through Europe. Did you learn German? I guess if you stay in the base you don't have to. I married a seargent in the airforce after he retired.

I learned enough German to get by. Not necessarily fluent.
