Okay, I don't know why I didn't review this when it was posted. I guess I wanted to wait for a six so I cold give it to you. LOL THis was interesting. She keeps on moving forward and things are quiet for now. At least Mitch is going to make sure she is safe now. That is good. Well done Gretchen. NAncy:)

Sounds like Mitch is bound and determined to take care of Miranda; well, that is if she'll let him. LOL. She's an independent cuss who is pretty self maintained. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Ric. I appreciate your review and assessment. Miranda is pretty self sufficient. At least she thinks so. Gretchen

This was a great chapter, Gretchen. I enjoyed reading it.
I believe deep down Miranda wanted someone, Mitch, to
do just what he planned. She didn't just want to come out
and ask for protection, but she's relieved it will be there.
I liked the way Miranda handled speaking with Mitch while
she was on the job--making him wait his turn--that was funny
and realistic. You have readers wondering when someone--
Missy?--will strike at her again. Also, where's Ed?
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Ed died. He was the body she found. Dougie has disappeared. Missy or whoever is after her is very close yo making a move. Thank you for this nice review. Gretchen

What a great job of using dialogue without tags and how it moved the plot along. No dialogue was a waste of words. Hemingway application of white spaces. You did a nice job at the end with, "I'm going to keep you safe whether you like or not." I could picture the realistic give and take and the inner dialogue on her part.

Someone who has been hurt and never really known someone who wants to protect and look after her, it's difficult to give that trust to someone spontaneously, but Mitch loves her whether she likes her or not, I like her, and she's only a character in a story, well done Gretchen. Blessings Roy

I love it. I would expect nothing less from Mitch, to be honest from Miranda either. We have to stop Missy. I can't wait to see how you do it. You're doing a great job writing this. I never want it to end.

Well, Gretchen, I must say I like the way you handled Miranda's reaction to the spray painting incident better than the way I suggested in my last review that I was surprised that Miranda didn't call Mitch from the get-go. That would have been out of character to do it, though, not out of character to want to. And you handled the dilemma perfectly.

I asked why she didn't call Mitch when she got home and found the graffiti on her door, and now I know. Okay, so Miranda will be a hard sell on Mitch protecting her, to no surprise! But what about everyone around her? I'll have to wait, I guess. LOL. Great chapter, Gretchen.

"No. You got a real crabgrass problem on the side though. My dad puts down something from the hardware store. Clears it up real fast."

"Thanks. I'll pass that along to my gardener."

I loved this dialogue!!

Best, JohnC

If you've ever been around small town folks, then you know that drama, weather, folks dying and yard work can intermingle in a single conversation. Thanks so much for this awesome review. Gretchen

I think she needs to shut up and let Mitch handle things. There's a time when pride or whatever it is needs to take back seat to reason. She's obviously in danger, and who knows what will follow the mean graffiti.

The good thing about Mitch is he's professional when he needs to be. He isn't going to let Miranda go around without someone checking on her. Thanks for this awesome review. Gretchen

Excellent again! Yes, such a piece of graffiti would be hurtful, and, although she's a strong person, she is vulnerable. And the deputy is right to prioritise her safety. Relationships are ususally hard to sortout, so this is realistic too. Well done.

Thank you. Miranda is hesitant (because of past romantic blunders) to depend on Mitch. Thanks for this awesome review. Gretchen
