Wow! Emma's social working major certainly did help her in this situation. It is such a terrible time for Lizzy and the reader knows Emma will never let her down. Good writing and motivation. One little change needed: . . . then held (her) hand.

I loved the way Emma handled the situation for Elizabeth .She has become a very mature adult who is capable of handling people..
A lot of teenage pregnancy can be avoided if the youth today decided to keep off sex till about twenty..But that would be a big controversy....

I agree teenagers have no business having sex. Thank you for the kind review and understanding.

An excellent chapter, and you handled the difficult topic very well. It was like you were the social worker helping Emma through this. I like how everything was done in a mature matter, and the parents were willing to listen. I think it was good that Seth was with Emma when she drove to the park. He also had a good idea about making the park safer at night for those who want to go there. I also think it was good that he went in with Emma.

You would never know that Emma hadn't been a practicing social worker. She kept everything as calm as possible, and answered the parents concerns, and even gave advice for how things would work, depending on what decision was made about the baby. Getting Pastor Pat involved was also a good idea. I am glad that, so far, Elizabeth's parents seem supportive and caring. It will be interesting to see how things develop.

Seth and Emma had a good discussion when they got back to her place, and it helped to settle lingering emotions and tears. This was really well written. Hope you had a very good Christmas and have a great 2024!!!

Great chapter. Education seems to have really driven down high school pregnancies but it is still a problem. Being a father of five daughters I think the father's reaction would have been stronger and more disbelief. I think you only had him make me comment. Just my two cents.

Awesome development coming full circle with Emma's adoption. Well played.

I agree. I think the dad was in shock and with Emma and Seth there not sure how to handle it. I have a feeling he'll later have issues, but his issues don't move my story along. I do mention it in an upcoming post and then again. But, as I said, I don't want to mention it too much because it doesn't move my story along. Thank you for the kind review.

Thank you again. I always want to hear your thoughts. When I was a teacher, I always told my parents they could question me and if I couldn't give them a reasonable answer then I need to rethink my decision. The same with my reviews. If I don't have an answer, then I need to do some rewriting.

You are still a teacher, my friend. And a good one!

I felt the reality of life in the piece but felt the reaction of the parents was not that big. And the way Emma took over fIt seemed to easy and seamless. But then again that showed how skilled she was at the same time.

This is an important chapter with a great message for teen pregnancies. But I liked how well Seth and Emma worked together as a team to help Lizzy and her parents.

I found it interesting that both Lizzy and Emma examine their hands.

I wondered why Seth closed just one eye in "Seth closed his eye."

Seth didn't just close one eye. Silly me. Thank you for the catch. I made the correction and appreciate the help.

This is a very delicate situation and you've handled it well. Emma is to be commended for her help and her mature dealing with the family. I'll be interested to see what they decide.

Your story is exciting with lots of problems right now. Good thing there's a police officer on duty who's also a neighbor to Emma. They do care for one another; so glad he's there to help her with her decisions.

This is beautifully told. We need more people with compassionate hearts to help others through difficult times...which we all have, some are just more serious than others.

Seth and Emma are a very well matched pair and I am enjoying your postings very much. Hope you have a lovely Christmas! -- Lily

There are so many young people who could benefit from the mature, balanced, and detailed discourse you just presented. Being young, unmarried and not even in love with the other person you are pregnant by, can be devastating. Having the approach that Emma outlined can be of tremendous benefit if approached and followed in similar fashion. Outstanding write.
