Very thoughtful poem! Truly, our love of God transcends everything else. A perfect love definitely bears all the highs and lows of life! Love the idea of beans in a banquet.

Thank you, Anndita. It's good to find another Believer here! There are many of us and I love that we can encourage one another.

Love is many things all at once, and that is what this piece is telling me. To each person, it is something different and grand, and we need only open our hearts to accept it.

That's so true! For many people, however, opening their hearts is the most frightening thing they can do. And too many people look for that Hallmark happily ever after and don't realize love is far more than that.
    Anyhow, thank you again!

Thank you for sharing this Valentine Love poem with us. Yes, the only perfect love is the love from God. But find a person who you can unconditionally love you and returned is wonderful. Good luck with the contest.

Sometimes it's pleain beans in a can. (peain????)

I think your poem is wonderful, Debs, love is different to different people, but pure love? That has to be from God. This is a lovely contest entry, my friend. Well done and good luck! Love and hugs, Sandra xxx

I'm not sure it's much of a Valentine's Day poem... Arent those supposed to be all fluff and flowers? lol. But not many loves are fluff and flowers. Most of us have some ebb and flow to it and know it takes work, sometimes, to make the love work.
Thanks for reading and leaving a comment, Sandra. How are you doing? Well, I hope. We've gotten moved and are getting settled and I hope to be back to FS on a more regular basis by the end of the month. :)

I love the metaphors of a banquet and beans. Love isn't always spectacular experiences. Yes, perfect love is from God, and I'm glad He allows us to enjoy His love, as well as the love of friends, family, and spouse. I had a bit of difficulty reading the orange cursive, but I think 'plain' is misspelled, unless I'm not seeing it correctly. Have a blessed week, and a happy Valentine's Day. Carol

Enlarging the text a bit might solve the problem also. Thanks. Have a wonderful week. Carol

Your poem beautifully shares the ups and downs of love! I love how you show that love isn't about perfection but about endurance. So true! "Banquet or beans" is such a great line - it really sticks with me! The poem flows so naturally. You've expressed your feelings so well.

Agreed. Only the Lord loves perfectly but we do appreciate even the imperfections because we see His grace to us in giving love. Best wishes in the contest!

Thank you for catching that itchy trigger finger (misspelling)! I'll zip over and fix it.
Love does require grace on both parties parts, doesn't it. I've often said that I'm glad I don't have to be married to ME. I'm not an easy soul to deal iwth so my hubby (who is also not easy) is a saint. Sort of... 😅

I like this stanza for better or worse;"Sometimes love is a banquet feast.
Sometimes it's pleain beans in a can.
Sometimes love is breath-taking views.
Sometimes it is dry desert sand" Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings and the contest.

Thanks, Iza! I'm not sure it's exactly a Valentine's Day poem... Arent those supposed to be fluff and flowers? Hmm... Fluff and flowers are sort of boring. I prefer banquets and beans. lol
